First release of the VR version. You play as Mega Man in first person: the buster is on your left hand, the special weapon on your right, and you look around with the headset.

You need your own copy of the game (US ROM). It's not included.

Meta Quest (2, 3, 3S, Pro)

Download MegaMan64RecompiledVR-Quest.apk.

  1. Turn on developer mode for the headset (Meta Horizon app on your phone: Devices > Headset settings > Developer mode) and connect it to the PC. Accept the USB debugging prompt in the headset.
  2. adb install -r MegaMan64RecompiledVR-Quest.apk
  3. Open the game once from the app library (Unknown Sources) and close it, so its folder gets created.
  4. Copy the ROM over and open the game again. It imports it by itself:
    adb push MegaMan64.us.rev1.z64 /sdcard/Android/data/com.megaman64recomp.vr/files/MegaMan64.us.rev1.z64

You can also bring your save from the PC version: copy %LOCALAPPDATA%\MegaMan64Recompiled\saves\megaman.n64.us.1.0.bin to /sdcard/Android/data/com.megaman64recomp.vr/files/saves/.

Controls: triggers fire (left buster, right special weapon), left stick moves where you look, right stick snap turns, A jumps, B/X talks, grips lock on. Clicking the right stick opens the settings menu, which has a VR field of view option. The full list is in android/README.md.

Windows (PC VR, experimental)

Download MegaMan64RecompiledVR-Windows.zip, unzip it and run MegaMan64Recompiled.exe with your headset connected through an OpenXR runtime (Meta Link, SteamVR...). Without a headset it runs as the normal PC version. This one has only been tried with the Meta XR Simulator so far, not a real headset.

It also includes the mouse camera (first and third person) for playing on a monitor, under Settings > General > Mouse Camera.

Known issues

  • The fix for textures shimmering when you move your head is new and hasn't been tested much in the headset yet. Objects right at the edge of the view may also pop in a little late.
  • Cutscenes and menus show on a flat floating screen.
  • Only tested on a Quest 2.

Bug reports are welcome in Issues.
