CLI: unexpected token '?'

Hi guys,

just created a new project and it is throwing this error when doing archive on iOS and when doing build on Android

Here the correspondig issue on React Native: facebook/react-native#34768 Let's close both once this is sorted out

same bug after updating to react 0.70.1 from 0.67.4

if i do npx react-native info, the cmd return me: Unexpected token '?'

@cortinico @jsierles @sharnik Is there any patch available for this fix? or can I use some alpha version which fixes this issue ?

Update note js to 16 resolve this problem

As suggested, it seems like the issue is with your Node version.

Hi @harrymash2006 @mantegnous - have you tried steps suggested here facebook/react-native#34768 ? (remove old system-wide node and use latest? )

Still getting the same issue @adamTrz when doing archive of iOS build. It is still referring to /usr/local/bin/mode even after changing the system node pointing to NVM installed path.

@harrymash2006 you're on 0.70.1 so you should be able to edit your ios/.xcode.env (or make an ios/.xcode.env.local) to override how it finds the node version to use

Hi @harrymash2006 have you tried the fixed mentioned above?
I'll close the issue for now but feel free to reopen if you still encounter problems when running the cli commands.

This problem still exists. im using node version v19.4.0 and React Native 0.70.1

@laksithakumara-cb /usr/local/bin/node -v says 19.4 too? Your screenshot just shows you doing node -v which could potentially be a different path.

yes, that path also shows the same version. enable to upload new builds(Xcode failed because of this error) because of this error.

Downgraded to node 16 and the problem was solved.

set default node version with nvm:
nvm alias default 16
restart xcode/android studio
