Properly Installing Python>Mac OSX>Package Manager incorrect URL

According to Homebrew's own installation instructions, in order to install Homebrew, you need to curl from "https://raw.github.com/gist/323731", and not "http://gist.github.com/raw/323731/install_homebrew.rb".

When I attempted to use your instructions, I got a 301-permanent redirect error back from github.

There is another problem with the installation on OSX instructions as well: "brew install pip" doesn't work: brew reports there's no formula for pip. Ergo, you need to use the method reported for curl -O that follows.

I've just started using the materials on your site -- I'm most
specifically interested in the "Request" package, but I also hoped that
your "Hitchhikers Guide To Python" would prove useful, as again, for the
work I'm doing right now, having a plain-spoken well-written guide to how
I should be using Python to build a portable, usable, distributable
(modestly sized) package would be very helpful.

I'm hoping your intending to keep working on it? But I also realize that
such a guide is going to become a chore to maintain (if it has not already
become soŠ)

It's really not sustainable without the help of others though. Would love assistance :)

I understand -- unfortunately, my skill with Python at the moment is so
raw that the only thing I can really offer is writing skill, and based on
what I've read so far you're quite capable in that arena yourself.

Part of the problem with guides like this is that to be properly written,
they really need primary contribution from domain experts to give the
proper, distilled, considered recommendations on things, and I am a Python
noob and far from a domain expert. 8/

I'll try to contribute by posting reports as I run across issues, and if I
notice anything in particular that I can add with confidence, I'll try to
do so.
