Just a brief note to make it clear, in case you didn't notice... Tone3000 Web Services for NAM A2, the Neural Amp Modeler Core project which provides A2 support (by Steven Atkinson, principal developer of the Neural Amp Modeler 2 technology), which PiPedal uses to provide A2 support, and the NeuralAudio Project (by Mike Oliphant), which Pipedal uses to provide highly optimized code for NAM A1 models, which makes use of NAM A1 on Raspberry Pi 4s practical, all announced general availability for NAM A2 models more or less simultaneously, on 2nd of June. That didn't happen by accident. There was a substantial effort and collaboration between all parties to make that happen. I wish to express my gratitude to all of the various players involved. And most particularly to members of the Tone3000 team who have done an enormous amount of work to make this all come together rather spectacularly. PiPedal received code, generous technical support, and prompt turnaround of a very small number of bugs and missing features along the way. None of this would have happened without them. Let there be NAM A2! Robin Davies |

Oh my. Not good news, I'm afraid. The problem is that you are running Raspberry Pi OS Buster (Debian 10). PiPedal 2.0 requires Raspberry Pi OS Bookworm (Debian 12), or Raspberry PI OS Trixie (Debian 13). Unfortunately, it is difficult to upgrade Raspberry PI OS from Buster to Bullseye (and not actually possible to complete the upgrade to Trixie). It can be done. You actually have to upgrade step by step -- from Buster to Bullseye, and then from Bullseye to So, it is probably best to do a clean reinstall of Raspberry PI OS Trixie. This seems to be a Linux-ism -- the idea that it's perfectly ok to force users to do a complete re-install of their operating system every couple of years. As someone coming from Windows world, it caught me a bit off guard. Expect a revision to Pipedal sometime soon that makes it easy to backup and restore all your media and settings in one easy step. In the meantime, if you choose to go that way, I would recommend that you make a backup of the contents of the following directories. And if you have installed a lot of LV2 plugins, make a backup of the following directory (and all of its subdirectories) as well. /usr/lib/lv2 Each of these directories should be copied onto your new OS image BEFORE you do a fresh install of PiPedal 2.0. PiPedal actually does minor upgrades of preset files (primarily dealing with version-by-version installations of new factory presets). If you want to restore your data AFTER installing PiPedal 2.0, use this procedure:

thanks for the info. I have successfully installed Trixied and pipedal2. BUT... it worked flawlessly for a while, but now the web server seems not to start, and I cannot access the pipedal web both on remote and also on the rasp itself..... I've tried several time uninstalling and reinstalling pipedal, but no success... the apt install pipedal ends with a 'PiPedal web server is listening on port 80'... but not able to open the web app tried to remove pipedal2 and reinstalled 1.5x.... with that it works and doing a sudo netstat -tnlp | grep 80 I can find the web server running... but when reinstalling pipedal2, the same command does not produce any output... any idea ? UPDATE: i had enabled MIDI in in pipedal in the time it worked... now I went back to pipedal1.5 (which works), disabled midi, updated to pipedal2 and now everything is working fine.... thanks anyway |

PiPedal is amazing, thanks a lot |

Can u please clarify wich nam quality is better 0 or 1 ? |
|
NAM Quality 1 is better than NAM Quality 0. If you are using a Pi 5,
there's probably no reason not to use NAM Quality 1. If you are using a Pi
4, with multiple NAM models, you might blow your CPU budget if you use NAM
quality 1.
There isn't actually a huge difference between CPU use for Quality = 0 and
Quality 1 if you are using a Pi 5. But just enough to cause troubles on a
Pi 4.

I see, what about snapshots, they can be removes, replaced or moved to another slot inside a preset? |

Oops. That would make an excellent feature request. |

Bug fix:
PiPedal 2.0 is a big release, with exciting new features, improvements, and bug fixes.
The headline feature of PiPedal 2.0 is support for TooB Neural Amp Modeler A2 models. TooB Neural Amp Modeler A2 models provide significant improvements in sound quality and performance compared to NAM A1 models, while consuming significantly less CPU resources. This is particularly important for users of Raspberry Pi 4, since it allows Pi 4 users to use an additional NAM instance in a preset.
PiPedal 2.0 connects to Tone3000.com web services, so that you can download Tone3000 NAM models and IRs directly to the PiPedal server, without ever having to leave the PiPedal web application interface. All existing NAM A1 models on Tone3000 have been retrained for NAM A2. When you download from Tone3000 using the integrated downloader, you will get NAM A2 models. Just click on the DOWNLOAD MODELS FROM TONE3000 button in the File Selection dialog for Toob Neural Amp Modeler, in order to download NAM A2 models directly
to the PiPedal server.
Currently, the best way to get access to NAM A2 models is via the integrated Tone3000 model downloader. Models downloaded externally from the Tone3000 website will still be NAM A1 models; however this should change soon with a forthcoming announcement from Tone3000.
PiPedal 2.0 has a (long overdue) new Factory Presets bank. These are also the set of presets that are included in the Default Bank when performing a clean install of PiPedal 2.0. The new Factory Presets are built around a small selection of NAM A2 models that show off the improved sound quality and performance of NAM A2. And a small selection of NAM A2 models are also bundled with PiPedal.
PiPedal 2.0 can now be installed as a Progressive Web Application (PWA). This allows you to launch Pipedal from your desktop as a native desktop application, without extra browser address bars and window decorations. This provides a much nicer experience when using PiPedal from a Windows or Apple device.
Features
Support for Neural Amp Modeler A2 models. The latest version of the TooB Neural Amp Modeler plugin now supports NAM A2 models, which provide improved performance and sound quality compared to older NAM A1 models.
Download Tone3000 NAM models and IIR files directly to the PiPedal server. Click on the DOWNLOAD MODELS FROM TONE3000 button in the TooB Neural Amp Modeler plugin's file selection dialog to download the latest NAM A2 models.
New Channel Routing Dialog. Configure Auxiliary pass-through channels, or use un otherwise unused channel to pass through unprocessed guitar input for later re-amping in a DAW.
Install PiPedal as a Progressive Web Application (PWA), which allows you to launch PiPedal from your desktop as a native desktop application. (A nice feature if you are accessing Pipedal from a Windows or Apple device).
New Factory Presets bank, with presets that show off the improved sound quality and performance of NAM A2 models.
New TooB Tone plugin: a simple one-knob tone control. The new TooB Tone plugin provides a simple one-knob tone control that can be used to adjust the overall tone of your guitar signal. It is a great tool for quickly shaping your tone without having to use a more complex EQ plugin.
Copy and Paste plugins (and their settings) between pedalboards. Accessible via the "Copy Plugin" and "Paste Plugin" menu items in the former Plugin Preset selector menu.
Miscellaneous features and bug fixes
Runtime detection and use of AVX extensions for TooB plugins. Reduces CPU use of TooB NAM by 50% on most x86_64/amd64 computers.
Better handling of step sizes in numeric edit controls.
Split controls now support double-tap to reset to a default value. (Other controls already support this feature).
Many small tweaks and improvements to the Pipedal user interface.
Fixes problems with Tone3000 direct downloading when using a .local address to connect to the PiPedal server.
.asc files are gpg digital signatures for the corresponding .deb files.
