v0.4.4
🏠 Launch-R v0.4.4 - Rehualed settings & A bunch of new features!
What's new?
Added
-
Labels settings (Settings -> Layout): show or hide app names on the home screen, the apps screen and the dock separately. The dock labels are off by default, the other two are on.
-
Page indicator style (Settings -> Layout): dots, a line, or hidden. Tapping a dot or a line segment on the home screen (or apps screen) now jumps straight to that page.
-
Loop pages (Settings -> Layout): swiping past the last home page wraps around to the first, and the other way round. Off by default. While it is on, the pull-past-the-edge gestures don’t trigger because there is no edge.
-
Grid steppers (Settings -> Layout): pick 3–6 columns and 4–8 rows for the home grid with a live preview and an Apply button.
-
App drawer settings page (Settings -> App drawer, also in the drawer's ⋮ menu) with a live preview that shows the real number of rows and columns, labels, icon size, search bar and page indicator as you change them.
-
Reduce animations (Settings -> Layout): skips transitions for a snappier feel on slower devices. The app drawer, home pages, folders, icons, home widgets, sheets and dialogs switch instantly, and the folder background blur is turned off. Off by default. It’s saved between launches and applies right away.
-
Hide status bar option (Settings -> Appearance). Hides the clock, battery and signal icons while Launch-R is on screen. Off by default. Swipe down from the top edge to peek at it or pull the notification shade.
-
Icon size setting in Settings -> Icons, a slider from 70% to 115% in 5% steps (default 100%) with a reset button. It’s saved between launches.
-
Double tap to lock (Settings -> Gestures). Double tap an empty spot on the home screen or dock to turn the screen off. Off by default. Uses the Launch-R accessibility service (the same one as Recent apps; it still can’t read your screen) and needs Android 9 or newer.
-
Indication for left and right gestures: while you pull past the first or last home page, a pill with the gesture’s icon slides in from that edge and fills with your accent color when you’ve pulled far enough to trigger it (with a small tick). Nothing shows if that side is set to “Nothing”.
-
Gesture sensitivity slider in Settings -> Gestures (50% - 150%). Higher means a shorter, lighter swipe triggers the home screen gestures; lower means you need to swipe further or faster.
Changed
-
Everything that only affects the app drawer now lives in its own settings page: columns, labels, remember app positions (plus a Tidy up apps button), search on open, suggestions, voice and clear buttons, and the swipe up again options. “Apps screen” is now called “App drawer” everywhere.
-
Settings sheet rehaul: Launcher settings is now a short list of categories (Appearance, Text, Layout, Icons, Search, Gestures, System) and tapping one opens a sheet with just those settings. Swipe down or tap the back arrow to return to the list.
-
Smoother app drawer search transition: when you tap the search bar, the app grid now fades out as the suggestions and recent searches fade in, instead of the grid vanishing instantly. Suggested apps and recent searches also glide in one after another.
-
The drawer's search results now fade in and out over the grid in the same way.
-
Sheet heights, title spacing and keyboard behavior is now consistent throughout the app.
-
Removed about 190 lines of duplicate code
Fixed
-
The Icon size, Text size, and Gesture sensitivity sliders no longer shift when the reset button appears. Each row is now a fixed height with space always reserved for the button.
-
The About row in Launcher settings now lines up with the category icons above it instead of sitting slightly to the left.
-
The app drawer now stays on the page you were viewing after you search or dismiss the keyboard, instead of jumping back to the first page.
-
The app grid no longer re-lays itself out while the keyboard slides up, which removes a small flicker behind the suggestions.
