What is new

  • Folders replace categories. Each meeting sits in one folder. Folders live in the sidebar and each has its own page. Your categories become folders at first launch, after a backup of your library.
  • Filing rules. A folder can file new meetings by who was invited: a person or an email domain.
  • Keep this client off AI. Switch it on for a folder and its meetings are never sent to an AI model: no summary, no Ask, no actions check, nothing through MCP.
  • People. Softspoken keeps who was in each meeting, from your calendar and the speakers you name. Each person has a page.
  • Actions. A new view with Mine, Waiting on, Snoozed and Done. Actions carry an owner and a due date, and can be snoozed.
  • Ask can answer questions about a person or a folder.

On Windows

The program is now Softspoken.exe. If you had Softspoken pinned to the taskbar, pin it again. The tray bird may be in the hidden icons.

On a Mac, once after this update

Softspoken is now signed with an Apple developer certificate and notarised by Apple, so macOS asks for a few things one more time:

  • Your Mac password, so Softspoken can read its saved sign-in. Choose Always Allow. Expect up to four of these.
  • The microphone, the next time you record.
  • Your calendar, if Softspoken uses it.
  • Screen Recording and Accessibility. Click Check permissions, then Grant… beside each.

Later updates will not ask again.
