Currently only literal `0` and `1` are accepted as `read`/`write` flags. This patch allows other boolean arguments, C macros (`FALSE`/`TRUE`), Ruby `VALUE`s (`Qfalse`/`Qtrue`), and C99 `bool`s (`false`/`true`), as well.
