SwitchFix v0.0.10
SwitchFix v0.0.10
This release focuses on safer text correction and a clearer first-run experience: guided permission setup, live readiness checks, more reliable keyboard-layout detection, and native Apple Silicon and Intel downloads.
What's new
- Guided setup with live status. A new setup window checks Accessibility, effective keyboard input access, keyboard-monitor health, installed layouts, and dictionary availability. Use Open Settings + Show App, Check Again, and Try a correction to complete setup and verify it in the app.
- Accurate permission reporting. Keyboard input access is reported as Available when macOS permits listening, including access provided through Accessibility. SwitchFix no longer requires a separate Input Monitoring settings row to declare setup complete. Temporary pauses in excluded apps or password fields do not undo completed setup.
- Keyboard-layout discovery and preferences. Improved discovery of native, custom, and multi-language input sources, with a preferred keyboard selector for each supported language in Settings. Avoids redundant switches when languages share the same input source.
- Interactive website and setup guide. Explore the SwitchFix website and follow the visual setup guide, also linked from the app's setup window.
Correction fixes and improvements
- Fixed disappearing text and unreliable replacement in Chromium-based apps and web editors by using session-level event delivery with carefully paced key events.
- Reduced correction delay while retaining the event pacing needed for reliable replacement.
- Hardened deletion, buffer resets, and interrupted-correction recovery to avoid deleting unrelated text during mixed-language typing or rapid input.
- Improved synchronization between typed text and the active input source. When text is already correct, SwitchFix can repair the layout state without rewriting the word; undo of a layout-only correction also leaves the text untouched.
- Made automatic detection more conservative for ambiguous short words, isolated characters, command-line flags such as
-r, punctuation, and in-word edits. Short-word corrections use neighboring language context rather than guessing in isolation. - Fixed false corrections of valid English inflections such as
keys, and expanded common English and Ukrainian vocabulary, including contextual handling of Ukrainianа. - Improved Ukrainian keyboard-variant fallback handling and prevented unnecessary conversions within a multi-language input source.
Installation and upgrade notes
Requires macOS 13 or later. Download the ZIP matching your Mac:
| Mac | Download |
|---|---|
| Apple Silicon | SwitchFix-arm64.app.zip |
| Intel | SwitchFix-intel.app.zip |
DMG installers are no longer included. The recommended installer downloads the correct native ZIP, validates the archive, architecture, minimum OS version, and code seal, then installs to /Applications. It stages the new app before replacing an existing installation and restores the previous app if replacement fails.
Run in Terminal as your signed-in user, without sudo:
/bin/bash -o pipefail -c 'curl --fail --location --silent --show-error https://raw.githubusercontent.com/rundax/SwitchFix/master/install.sh | /bin/bash'Alternatively, extract the appropriate ZIP, move SwitchFix.app to /Applications, and open it.
Important: Public builds are ad-hoc signed, not notarized. macOS may require approval in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway. Only approve a build you downloaded from this repository. Updates may require fresh permission grants; the installer clears stale SwitchFix permission registrations and the setup window guides you through granting access again. If a checked permission still shows as unavailable, remove the old SwitchFix entry and add the current app using Open Settings + Show App, then return to Check Again.
Launch at Login remains optional; Settings now surfaces approval requirements and registration errors more clearly.
Release validation
Apple Silicon and Intel builds passed all release checks using optimized Swift builds:
InputPipelineTestRunner: 932 passed, 0 failed on each architecture.TestRunner: 244 passed, 0 failed on each architecture.- Dictionary-load performance: 23.33s on Apple Silicon, 26.74s on Intel, both below the unchanged 60-second limit.
- Both native app bundles passed code-seal and ad-hoc-signature verification, with app version matching
v0.0.10.
