Fixed

  • include_cron reads /etc/anacrontab, so the cron.daily, cron.weekly and cron.monthly jobs anacron runs show up as tasks that catch up once after the machine was off. runwisp takeover reads it and retires anacron along with cron, and re-running it adds /etc/anacrontab to the include_cron an earlier take-over wrote.
  • runwisp takeover run without root re-runs itself with sudo, and ends by printing the dashboard address and how to get the password.
  • Crontab jobs get clearer task names: run-parts /etc/cron.hourly becomes cron-hourly, and if …; then … lines are named after the program they run instead of if. Tasks already read from a crontab may change name, starting a new run history.
  • runwisp takeover without root no longer asks for a sudo password just to look around, and no longer reports "no cron jobs" on a box that has them.
  • Hints to run sudo runwisp … name the full binary path when sudo can't find runwisp on its own (for example in ~/.local/bin).
  • runwisp password and other commands that can't reach a daemon say when RunWisp runs as the system service, and runwisp password no longer creates a .runwisp folder in the current directory.
  • Distro cron lines that do nothing on the machine, like test -x /usr/sbin/anacron || … on a box with anacron, are no longer imported as tasks. runwisp import cron and runwisp takeover list them as left out.
  • The daemon no longer warns on every start about Debian's /etc/cron.d/.placeholder or the crontabs directory under /var/spool/cron.

Security

  • A system service never runs a binary a normal user can replace: takeover and service install copy such a binary to /usr/local/bin/runwisp and run the copy.
