For README.md: Ths project has sailed smooth for almost ten years without having contributor guidelines and due to sysfs GPIO being deprecated, I bet there won't be a dramatic increase in conributions over the next ten years. Let's remove this dead link then. For CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md: The linked page seems no longer reachable and the Internet Archive's WayBackMachine had also no luck with it this year. Let's link to the most-recent archived version of this page then.
