  • Improved earned/incomplete status checks, including supported account-wide completion state.
  • Search by achievement name or ID and filter by achievement category.
  • Safer achievement criteria/progress display for missing records.
  • Toggle tracking or untracking with Blizzard APIs where available.
  • Refresh achievement data on earned, criteria update, and login events.

Gear Hunter Navigator v0.5.4

Achievements — Live World of Warcraft journal

  • New searchable Achievements page reads the logged-in WoW client's achievement records.
  • Search by achievement name or numeric ID.
  • Filter All, Earned, or Incomplete.
  • Browse completion status, earned date when available, achievement points and descriptions.
  • Select an achievement to inspect its available criteria and progress.
  • Track an achievement using Blizzard's API when available.
  • Open the native Blizzard Achievements interface, or refresh the list.
  • Preserves the v0.5.3 zone-map artwork repair, automatic rare/treasure zone updates, waypoints, and Hide Visited filters.

The GitHub Actions workflow validates and packages the complete addon. In-game achievement APIs and behavior require a running WoW client for final verification.

@github-actions github-actions released this 23 Oct 01:25

Gear Hunter Navigator v0.5.3

Complete unified addon with original Gear Hunter artwork and the Navigator map fixes.

  • Restored working retail zone-map tile rendering with correct map-art layer indices and parent-map fallback.
  • Automatic zone and subzone discovery refresh while the map is visible.
  • Increased discovery markers to 160.
  • Rare dataset lookups by map ID or normalized zone name, with cached valid coordinates.
  • Fixed duplicate handling across discovery categories.
  • Map markers can set Blizzard waypoints.
  • Synchronized and persisted Hide Visited filters.
  • Improved empty-zone messaging and waypoint validation.

Known locations are possible rare spawns, not guaranteed live sightings. The ZIP is built by GitHub Actions from this repository.

Gear Hunter Navigator v0.4.8

One unified World of Warcraft Retail addon replacing the separate Gear Hunter and MapHub downloads for new installations.

Included in this release

  • Original Gear Hunter design: ornate blue-and-gold Midnight frame, centered rotatable character and equipment views, gear search, boss loot, upgrade and farming tools.
  • Upgrade finder: class/equipment eligibility checks; show improvements of at least +1 item level. Required-level window defaults to current character level +5, with an optional +10 setting. Items with unknown requirements may be withheld.
  • Class-aware leveling: character/quest-log-based guidance with early class tips. Not a complete algorithmically optimized leveling route.
  • Quest help: displays active quest objectives and provides next-step assistance from those objectives.
  • Reputation: displays available faction standings and Renown information.
  • Collections: collected mounts and toys, search, collection filters, pagination, and Toy Box controls.
  • Mount Hunter: searchable Mount Journal, tracking and verified/source-based mount-acquisition guidance.
  • Rares & Treasures: documented map locations, waypoints, and the approved eight-category icons (rares, chests, elite rares, world bosses, secrets, quests, vendors and flight paths). Pins are known locations—not a live rare-spawn detector.
  • Adventure Planner: combines available gear/mount/discovery goals; some source databases remain incomplete.
  • v0.4.8 layout fix: Collections totals and notices no longer overlap controls and item rows.

Install / upgrade

  1. Exit World of Warcraft completely.
  2. Remove only the obsolete _retail_/Interface/AddOns/GearHunter and _retail_/Interface/AddOns/MapHub folders if installed. Replace the old GearHunterNavigator folder.
  3. Extract the single GearHunterNavigator folder from this release ZIP into _retail_/Interface/AddOns/.
  4. Keep your WTF folder and SavedVariables; do not delete them.
  5. Start WoW, enable Gear Hunter Navigator, and enter /ghnav.

Upgrade note: The new combined addon uses its own GearHunterNavigatorDB saved variables. Existing Gear Hunter and MapHub settings are not guaranteed to migrate automatically.

Website information

Website: https://gearhunter.net
Source and releases: https://github.com/sBranha/GearHunter
Public distribution should list Gear Hunter Navigator as the single current addon. Preserve old Gear Hunter and MapHub release archives as history instead of deleting them.

Validation

Offline validation covers syntax and simulated tracker data, but real-game rendering and controls must still be verified in WoW. Final functionality and rendering must still be tested in a running WoW client.

@github-actions github-actions released this 14 Oct 00:02

Gear Hunter v0.11.10 — Website Support + WoW Retail 12.1.5

  • Updated the addon interface header to 120105 for WoW Retail 12.1.5.
  • Added a WEBSITE & SUPPORT page to the existing in-game ? Support Center, with a selectable link to GearHunter.net.
  • Updated /ghwebsite and optional Companion version reporting.
  • Kept the core gear features, artwork and character settings intact.
  • Support Center What's New includes instructions for the new page; no donation solicitation appears in-game.

Install

  1. Exit WoW.
  2. Remove only the old _retail_/Interface/AddOns/GearHunter addon folder so retired artwork doesn't linger. Do not delete WTF.
  3. Extract the new ZIP so the folder is _retail_/Interface/AddOns/GearHunter/.
  4. Restart WoW; type /gh and click the ? button, then WEBSITE & SUPPORT.

Compatibility note: The 120105 header removes the out-of-date indicator for this game interface. Runtime behavior still needs testing in the patched WoW client.

Previous release — v0.11.9

Retired obsolete low-resolution race backgrounds, kept optimized high-resolution faction/class scenes, and migrated saved Race theme preferences to Auto.

Gear Hunter v0.11.9

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 12 Oct 18:08

Gear Hunter v0.11.9 — Clean HD Character Backgrounds

This update retires the first-generation character-screen artwork.

  • Removed 21 obsolete TGA backgrounds and eliminated the Race background mode that could still select them.
  • All characters with the retired Race preference automatically switch to Auto. Other preferences and saved gear remain unchanged.
  • When no valid scene is selected, the previous texture is cleared so it cannot linger.
  • Kept 80 high-resolution Alliance/Horde specialization scenes and all existing class previews, icons and Midnight frames.
  • Kept compact BLP2 artwork compression for a smaller ZIP.

Installation (important)

  1. Exit World of Warcraft completely.
  2. Delete only the old _retail_/Interface/AddOns/GearHunter folder before installing. Otherwise the older image files may remain.
  3. Extract the new GearHunter-v0.11.9.zip into _retail_/Interface/AddOns/.
  4. Restart WoW and open /gh, then Character. Change Theme Mode between Auto, Class, Custom or Off.
  5. Do not delete the WTF folder; it contains your saved character settings.

The build checks file presence and package integrity, but appearance in the WoW client still needs in-game confirmation. If artwork still appears doubled, send a screenshot and your character class, faction, specialization and Theme Mode.

Gear Hunter v0.11.8

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 12 Oct 13:26

What's new in Gear Hunter v0.11.8

Much smaller download; all the familiar Gear Hunter features are retained.

  • Compressed 109 large artistic textures into the native World of Warcraft BLP2/DXT5 format.
  • Kept 48 small artwork files (including icons and small showcase pieces) in their original TGA format.
  • The download is expected to be about 50 MB instead of 240.7 MB, based on a locally tested equivalent build.
  • No gear features, saved character data, or optional Companion functions were intentionally removed.

How to install or upgrade

  1. Fully exit World of Warcraft.
  2. Delete only the old _retail_/Interface/AddOns/GearHunter folder, so unused legacy textures do not remain.
  3. Extract the new ZIP into _retail_/Interface/AddOns/. The result should be an AddOns/GearHunter directory.
  4. Start the game. Open Gear Hunter with /gh; the ? button shows the full in-game release history.
  5. Keep your WTF folder: it stores saved addon settings and should not be deleted.

The optional Windows GearHub Companion remains optional. If you encounter a missing background or frame artwork, please report your character class/specialization, faction, and a screenshot through gearhunter.net.

Build note: this release uses forced RGBA input to ensure consistent DXT5 artwork encoding on Linux GitHub runners.
