wallpap 0.16 — your AI threads are your pets

Your AI threads are your pets. Turn on AI companions and every running Claude Code or Codex thread becomes one of your pets, in every pet world.

• A status dot on each pet: green while its thread works, grey when idle, amber when it needs you. The wave in the menu bar carries the same dot.
• Waiting threads come to you. When a thread finishes or asks you something, its pet walks over to your cursor. Click it to jump straight to that thread in Claude or Codex.
• Hover a pet to see what its thread is doing right now: the thread's title, the current step and how long it's been going. Read from your local session logs; nothing leaves your Mac.

Deep sleep. A minute after you leave the desktop, the scene sleeps to a still of its last frame and gives its memory back (about 0.5 GB for a pet world). Press Continue on the pause pill to wake it; stray clicks on the desktop no longer do.

Cats: the yarn-ball toy is back (click the floor), chases always run, and every room has five visible starting spots, so all five cats are home.

Fixes: anonymous daily app counts now start at launch (they were only created after the first menu click), so the one "this Mac was used today" count is no longer lost when wallpap restarts.

wallpap 0.15.0 — a new menu

A new menu

• The menu-bar panel is rebuilt around cards: the world you're in on top (with its actions), then Worlds, Time & weather, Sound, Background, Music, Breathe, Water and Settings.
• Each card shows its quick controls; tap its header to open the rest right there.
• Time is one bar, from dawn to night, plus Now to follow your clock. Weather is one row of icons, with Local for the sky where you are.
• Sound is the three things a world makes: Interactions, World and Weather, each with its level right under it. Background sounds and Music Mode have their own cards.
• A world's own settings (pets, kites, skins…) live in a "This world" card.
• Breathe and Water reminders can now be as often as every 15 minutes.

Breathing: one calm breathing guide for every world: a glowing orb, a ring for each phase, a countdown, and a Done button to stop.

Santorini Cats: click the terracotta bowl to feed the cats, or the blue bowl for fresh water.

Anonymous counts: with "Share anonymous counts" on (Settings), wallpap sends one daily total of which worlds and features were used. No IDs, no IP, nothing personal; switch it off any time.

Pro is free for everyone, for now. Every scene skin, Music Mode, Calm, reminders, soundscapes, live weather, AI companions and your own scenes are unlocked — no key, no payment. If you already have a license key, it keeps working.

• The golden retriever stays a puppy: she no longer flips into a grown dog when she turns while walking.
• Touch Grass: the black kites soar alone again (the toy kites are gone).

Cats follow you properly

• Click a cat and it heads straight for your cursor, running when far and walking when close, and finds its way around the bench, planters and stairs.
• When you stop, it stands a moment and sits facing you. Move again and it gets up and follows.
• Pick several cats and they gather around your cursor, each in its own spot, without bumping or jittering.
• Cats on the bench or the wall hop down to follow you.
• Clicking selects exactly the cat you clicked, even when cats are close together.

Fixes

• No more cats freezing mid-step, standing up and sitting down in a loop, or spinning in place.
• Smoother sitting and lying down.

Cats

• Idle cats no longer wander around. They rest where they are, nap in beds and sunny spots, and eat and drink every 20–40 minutes.
• Chasing your cursor, they now run, bound ahead in leaps, trot in when you stop, then pounce.
• A cat with no clear path stays put instead of standing frozen.

Train: station stops are off for now.

Cats, redrawn. Every cat now walks, runs and jumps in all eight directions across the floor, with full leg movement taken from real cat locomotion. They sit facing you, loaf, sleep and stretch, and stay the same size from every angle. Five coats: orange, black, grey, calico and Siamese. Click a cat and it follows your cursor, stalks and pounces.

Add to desktop. Any scene on wallpap.live now has an Add to desktop button. With wallpap installed it switches your wallpaper straight to that scene, and offers to download it first if you don't have it yet (only from wallpap's own scene list, and only after you confirm).

Train stations. The train now stops at a station every few minutes: Itarsi, Mishima, Bergün or Venezia S. Lucia, depending on the line. It brakes, waits at the platform, then pulls away again.

More life in the scenes

• Koi Pond: bigger, calmer shoals.
• Beach: new gulls. Butterfly Garden: gentler flowers when you brush past.
• Speakeasy: an art-deco robot jazz band, with a sax player.

Fixes

• The wallpaper no longer flashes black when macOS adjusts screen brightness or HDR.
• Moonrise and moonset now match the real moon at your location.
• Lower CPU while paused, and memory is released when you switch scenes.

Breathe inside the scene

Calm mode now breathes each scene's own world instead of drawing an overlay on top. Koi ripples swell and settle, a gust leans the grass and lifts dandelion seeds, bougainvillea petals and lanterns rise and fall in Santorini, steam and candlelight swell in the café and ramen alley, the cabin fire breathes, and a wave of light runs along the rooftop string lights. A small breathe in · hold · breathe out label keeps time. Box, Calm and 4-7-8 patterns all hold their pauses.

Every scene action in the menu

Each scene's actions and settings are now in the panel and menu: drop food for the koi, toss a toy to the cats, fireworks on the rooftop, pet the café/record-store/speakeasy cats and the cabin dog, choose pandas/kites/birds in Touch Grass, the cabin's season, the Cymatics plate, strike a singing bowl, and play/pause/next in music scenes.
