WeatherGrid v1.3 🌦️

This update prepares WeatherGrid for official F-Droid submission by removing proprietary Google Play Services dependencies and adding support for parallel side-by-side Debug & Release installations.

What's New in v1.3 πŸš€

  • πŸ”“ 100% Free & Open Source (FOSS):

    • Removed play-services-location dependency.
    • Replaced Google Fused Location provider with native Android LocationManager.
    • Fully compatible with F-Droid inclusion requirements without proprietary blobs.
  • πŸ“± Side-by-Side Debug & Release Builds:

    • Debug builds now use .debug package suffix (nl.baasmail.weathergrid.debug).
    • Debug app name displays as WeatherGrid (Debug) so you can keep both release and debug versions on your device simultaneously.
  • πŸ“¦ F-Droid Metadata:

    • Added full Fastlane metadata structure (en-US descriptions, changelogs, screenshots, icon) for F-Droid repository integration.

Installation πŸ“²

WeatherGrid v1.2 πŸš€

This update improves forecast accuracy and enhances the user experience with better visual feedback and official data attribution.

What's New?

πŸ“ˆ Enhanced 3-Hour Forecast Logic

We have optimized how hourly data from Open-Meteo is aggregated into our 3-hour grid:

  • Precipitation (Rain & Snow): The widget now displays the total sum of expected precipitation for the entire 3-hour block, rather than just a snapshot of a single hour.
  • Accurate Averages: Temperature, wind speed, humidity, and UV index are now calculated as the average over the 3-hour period, providing a more realistic representation of the conditions.
  • Representative Icons: Weather icons and wind directions are now pulled from the middle hour of each block for better consistency.

πŸ”„ Visual Refresh Feedback

  • Loading Animation: Added a spinning progress indicator to the widget. When you tap the refresh button, you'll now see clear visual feedback that new data is being fetched.

βš–οΈ API Attribution & Compliance

  • Added official Open-Meteo attribution in both the main app and the widget configuration screen, including clickable links to comply with API terms of service.

πŸ› οΈ Other Improvements

  • Grid Consistency: The current time slot in the grid now displays the aggregated data for that 3-hour block, while real-time "live" conditions remain prominently visible in the widget header.
  • Version Bump: Updated to version 1.2 (Build 3) in preparation for store publication.

Thank you for using WeatherGrid! If you have any feedback, please let us know via a GitHub Issue.

Release v1.1 - Customization & Insights

This update introduces significant improvements to the widgets, giving you more control over the displayed information and visual style.

    • Hide Past Time Slots: Keep your widget clean by hiding hours that have already passed for the current day.
    • Customizable Units: Choose your preference for Temperature (Β°C/Β°F), Wind Speed (Bft, m/s, km/h, mph, knots), and Precipitation (mm/inch).
  • Enhanced Information Cycling: Tap the widget to cycle through three data modes in the header:
    1. Standard: Temperature, UV index, and max precipitation probability.
    2. Sun: Sunrise and sunset times (automatically follows your system's 24h or AM/PM setting).
    3. Wind: Wind direction, speed, and relative humidity.
