WeatherGrid v1.3 🌦️

This update prepares WeatherGrid for official F-Droid submission by removing proprietary Google Play Services dependencies and adding support for parallel side-by-side Debug & Release installations.

What's New in v1.3 🚀

  • 🔓 100% Free & Open Source (FOSS):

    • Removed play-services-location dependency.
    • Replaced Google Fused Location provider with native Android LocationManager.
    • Fully compatible with F-Droid inclusion requirements without proprietary blobs.

  • 📱 Side-by-Side Debug & Release Builds:

    • Debug builds now use .debug package suffix (nl.baasmail.weathergrid.debug).
    • Debug app name displays as WeatherGrid (Debug) so you can keep both release and debug versions on your device simultaneously.

  • 📦 F-Droid Metadata:

    • Added full Fastlane metadata structure (en-US descriptions, changelogs, screenshots, icon) for F-Droid repository integration.

Installation 📲

  1. Download WeatherGrid-v1.3-release.apk below.
  2. Install or update on your device (Android 12+ / min SDK 32).
  3. Grant location permission and add/configure the widget on your home screen.

Weather data provided by Open-Meteo API (No API key required)
