Install
Expand-Archive .\graphcode-windows-x86_64.zip -DestinationPath .\graphcode-preview
powershell.exe -NoProfile -File .\graphcode-preview\GraphCode\GraphCode-Setup.ps1 -Command Verify
powershell.exe -NoProfile -File .\graphcode-preview\GraphCode\GraphCode-Setup.ps1 -Command Install- Setup installs per user to
%LOCALAPPDATA%\GraphCode\current. It adds a Start menu shortcut, a user PATH entry for thegraphcodeCLI, and a per-user scheduled task that keeps the daemon running. - No administrator rights are needed.
- Your data lives in
%USERPROFILE%\.graphcode.
Uninstall
Close GraphCode and end its terminal sessions, then run:
powershell.exe -NoProfile -File "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\GraphCode\current\GraphCode-Setup.ps1" -Command Uninstall- Uninstall refuses, changing nothing, while GraphCode processes are still running.
- Your data is kept unless you add
-RemoveUserData.
Updating to a later preview
Updating in place was not tested for this preview. Uninstall first, then install the new build. Your data in %USERPROFILE%\.graphcode is kept.
Known limits
- Unsigned. Windows SmartScreen and your organization's policies may warn about or block it. Do not bypass security policy to run it. If it is blocked, report that instead.
- Tested on a Microsoft Dev Box running Windows 11 x64, at 2560×1440 with 100% scaling (other scaling was not tested), using the US and US-International keyboard layouts.
- Agent backend: the only agent backend tested is Copilot CLI 1.0.96 in attended mode.
- Accessibility: UI Automation and keyboard navigation were checked. No screen-reader support is claimed.
- Parity: of 98 macOS user-facing surfaces, 63 are fully validated on Windows and 35 are partial. The biggest gaps are graph editing, the update and install flow, and parts of accessibility and visuals.
- Out of scope for this preview:
- Nod;
- upgrade and rollback;
- in-app install of updates.
- Update checks only offer releases that include a Windows build (this release includes that fix). macOS releases are ignored.
- New Tab or Split may fail with "Unable to create tab" if another program, such as an editor, indexer or antivirus, holds a layout file in
%USERPROFILE%\.graphcode\terminal-layoutsopen. It rolls back cleanly, and retrying works (#712).
