I've installed the MinionPro font using your scripts, on my laptop (Ubuntu 12.10, texlive 2012), and I'm unable to use the \epsilon command (it does not raise an error, but it shows a crossed out box).

What kind of infos do you need to see where the problem is?

I need to know which font version you use (output of otfinfo -v MinionPro-Regular.otf) and which version of the lcdf typetools (otfinfo --version). Could you also have a look which unicode encoding is used for the epsilon and varepsilon in the original otf using fontforge? Is \varepsilon working?

Thanks for reporting.

Hi,

Here is the result of the otfinfo:

Version 2.030;PS 2.000;hotconv 1.0.51;makeotf.lib2.0.18671

And the typetools version

otfinfo (LCDF typetools) 2.92

\varepsilon is working fine.

Since I don't have this version, could you please have a look at the MinionPro font with fontforge? I need to know what unicode number the epsilon has. For the epsilon in LaTeX, the Cyrillic e is used, so I expect it to be near the other Cyrillic letters. In my font, the letter has the unicode number U+0454 (and this should work).

I'll do this, but I don't know how. Can you point me to a tutorial on this?

  1. Install fontforge (hopefully it's included in Ubuntu)
  2. fontforge MinionPro-Regular.otf
  3. In the menu bar: Encoding > Compact
  4. Then search for the epsilon (the version that is used in LaTeX). Here, the Cyrillic e is used (so look through the Cyrillic letters).
  5. Click on the symbol.
  6. Post what is written below the menu bar (in red). Especially, I'm interested in the unicode. I would expect U+0454.

Thank you. This is exactly how it should look. I'll have to investigate more...

I cannot reproduce your problem. I installed Ubuntu 12.10 in a virtual machine including the software and used your font version. \epsilon works for me. Please post the exact commands you used to install the package and a minimal tex example file.
