TopMark 0.11.1

This release delivers a major upgrade to TopMark’s developer tooling and CI automation, with a full migration from tox to nox backed by uv for faster, more reliable environments.

There are no user-facing or runtime behavior changes compared to 0.11.0. This update is strictly about improving development, CI, and release workflows.

🚀 Highlights

  • Complete migration from tox → nox

    • Removed tox.ini and all tox-based workflows.
    • Introduced a comprehensive noxfile.py covering linting, formatting, testing, typing, docs, packaging, and release gates.
    • Unified local, CI, and release automation under a single orchestration model.
  • Faster CI with uv-backed environments

    • Switched Nox to use uv for virtualenv creation and dependency syncing.
    • Reduced environment setup time and eliminated redundant installs across sessions.
  • CI & Release workflow alignment

    • GitHub Actions now invoke the same nox sessions used locally.
    • Release candidates automatically publish to TestPyPI; final releases publish to PyPI.
    • Packaging, docs, and QA checks are enforced consistently before publishing.

🛠️ Changes

  • Removed tox support entirely.
  • Updated Makefile targets to call nox sessions directly.
  • Centralized supported Python version resolution in noxfile.py based on pyproject.toml.
  • Added deterministic (release-check) and full (release-full) release gates.
  • Hardened release workflows to prevent version/tag mismatches.

🐛 Fixes

  • Fixed CI failures on Python 3.10 caused by missing TOML parsing during nox bootstrap.
  • Ensured noxfile.py uses:
    • tomllib on Python ≥ 3.11
    • tomli on Python < 3.11 (as a tooling-only dependency provided by nox)
  • Clarified via inline comments that TOML parsing in noxfile.py occurs at nox bootstrap time, not at TopMark runtime.

ℹ️ Notes

  • No changes to TopMark’s public API, CLI behavior, or runtime functionality.
  • Existing users can upgrade safely without modifying their workflows.
  • This release primarily benefits contributors, CI stability, and release reliability.
