Lake ice has been suggested as an important indicator of climate change. Here we analyze freeze and thaw dates of lakes in the Global Lake and River Ice Phenology Database (https://tinyurl.com/GLRIPD) using a smooth, hierarchical, time-to-event approach with the pammtools package in R.
