v0.7.0
Feature release — a command-line tool.
New: ggplot-rs CLI (cli feature)
Plot parquet/CSV files and DuckDB SQL straight from the shell — DuckDB is the query engine, so --sql can read parquet globs, aggregate, and join.
cargo install ggplot-rs --features cli
ggplot-rs --parquet sales.parquet --describe # discover columns+types
ggplot-rs --parquet sales.parquet --x month --y revenue --geom line -o rev.png
ggplot-rs --sql "SELECT region, sum(qty) q FROM 'orders/*.parquet' GROUP BY 1" \
--x region --y q --geom col --facet-wrap region -o orders.svg- Full grammar via flags: aes (
--x/--y/--color/--fill/--size/--shape/--group/--label),--geom(15 geoms),--facet-wrap/--facet-grid,--log-x/--log-y/--flip, labels,-o FILE/--stdout,--width/--height. - Theming from the CLI:
--theme <preset>,--palette <name>(Set1/Dark2/viridis/RdBu/…),--primary "r,g,b", and--theme-config <FILE>— a TOML/JSON file of element overrides for full custom themes. - AI-ready:
--describelists columns+types for discovery; clear "column not found / unknown palette" errors; ships a Claude Code skill (.claude/skills/plot-data) teaching the describe → map → render workflow. clap+ bundledduckdb(+ serde/toml for theme configs) are optional, off by default; the core library is unchanged.
