Hi Chris,
The news are quite hidden at the end of the landing page. To make them more visible I added a new news-entry to the header.html (menu on the left) and created a news.markdown file. I guess all pages will be rebuild.
Additionally I added the syntax highlighting for ecode as posted in the forum by bprlhe.
