Yes, that answers all my questions. Thanks! I was hoping for automatic updates though ;)

Maybe in future versions there can be a version-code in the json aswell and OH offers an "Update" option when a version that's older is currently installed.

The JSON already includes a version, the core Add-on-services and the UI can't handle it.
