OpenMind Studio v1.0.5
Release date: October 27, 2026
Previous release: v1.0.4
Focus: VS Code extension compatibility, editor recovery, AI Cloud settings, portable language tooling, and stability.
OpenMind Studio v1.0.5 advances the editor and its extension ecosystem. The changes below are based on merged source commits after v1.0.4; they should not be read as a claim that every third-party extension or platform configuration has been tested.
New features and improvements
VS Code extension compatibility
- Expanded importing of VS Code settings, profiles, and extensions, including support for running imported extensions.
- Added native ESM extension support, inline completions, and native dialog APIs.
- Expanded editor APIs for selections, focus, split editors, decorations, snippets, indentation, line numbers, reveal behavior, and edit validation.
- Added extension integration for semantic tokens, inlay hints, language actions, colors, and language configurations.
- Added workspace folder selection through extension quick-pick interfaces.
- Improved terminal interaction events, window focus events, and extension save participants.
- Expanded extension testing, task execution, pseudoterminals, debugging, notebook history, and source documents.
Documents, saving, and recovery
- Added named and unnamed documents with Save As support.
- Added editable provider-backed virtual documents and guarded read-only virtual editors.
- Improved recovery of untitled, virtual, and unsaved local documents.
- Preserved recovery records separately for each editor window and improved restoration of additional windows.
- Added editor flushing before Quit or application update and better handling of changed-on-disk conflicts.
OpenMind AI Cloud
- Redesigned OpenMind AI Cloud provider settings.
- Removed desktop-side input text and generation caps in supported flows. Actual limits still depend on the model, provider, and available resources.
Pascal development
- Added PascalABC.NET as an optional Windows compiler alongside Free Pascal.
- Added Runtime Manager integration, compiler selection, offline compiler packaging, Run Code integration, and compiler diagnostics.
- Improved extraction of ZIP files whose filenames use DOS Cyrillic code page 866.
Bug fixes and reliability
- Fixed extension activation races and filesystem permission escape paths.
- Restored the previously truncated extension store implementation and related tests.
- Improved extension-host channel allowlists and language-configuration lifecycle cleanup.
- Fixed document-provider ownership handling when registration fails.
- Improved editor decorations so they render in the correct Monaco editor.
- Rejected stale snippet insertions and improved edit, undo, and end-of-line validation.
- Improved debugger transport shutdown and session-bound source handling.
- Improved virtual Save As behavior and preservation of document identities.
- Prevented unsaved recovery data in one window from being mixed with another window's data.
- Improved handling of local files changed on disk while unsaved work is being recovered.
- Refactored large extension-host modules for easier maintenance.
Build and packages
- Bumped application metadata and internal Rust workspace dependency versions from
1.0.4to1.0.5, including the Cargo lockfile. - The release tooling supports Windows NSIS
.exe, MSI, and portable ZIP packages, plus Linux.deb,.AppImage, and portable.tar.gzpackages. - Only formats actually attached to this GitHub release are available for download. Updater
.sigfiles require the existing signing key.
Known limitations
- Some VS Code extensions depend on unsupported APIs; imported extensions are not guaranteed to behave identically to VS Code.
- PascalABC.NET integration is Windows-only and does not include a dedicated language server or debugger.
- Linux binaries require compatible system libraries and an appropriate glibc baseline.
- Removing desktop-side AI input caps does not bypass API-provider or model context limits.
- Updater signatures do not replace Windows Authenticode publisher signing.
Upgrade
- Save work and close OpenMind Studio.
- Download the correct package for your operating system and architecture.
- Upgrade the existing installation or replace the portable application files using the documented procedure.
- Reopen the editor and verify your workspace, settings, and extensions.
Back up important data before upgrading, especially on shared installations.
Release verification checklist
- Windows installers and portable ZIP built and smoke-tested
- Linux DEB, AppImage, and portable tar.gz built and smoke-tested
- Checksums generated and verified for uploaded assets
- Updater signatures verified for update-enabled packages
- Editor recovery and upgrade paths tested
- VS Code extension import and activation tested with representative extensions
