LGPrivacyShield 0.4.2
LGPrivacyShield 0.4.1
Security fixes
- Limit the privileged settings bridge to a read-only snapshot and allowlisted setting writes.
- Add a content security policy and validate package identity before building package paths.
- Build the IPK from tracked app files and use the source commit time for reproducible archives.
The release includes the installable IPK and its matching Homebrew manifest.
LGPrivacyShield 0.4.0
LGPrivacyShield 0.4.0 is the build I submitted to the Homebrew Channel.
I use it to review and change privacy settings exposed by my LG webOS TV,
check which settings the app can read, and save settings for later restoration.
It also shows saved LG agreement choices and their documented effects.
The app runs locally. During normal use, it and the TV send no data. A
compatibility report can be opened on a phone with one QR code; GitHub receives
the report when the user opens the form, and it becomes public only on submit.
This release includes the installable IPK and its Homebrew manifest. I tested it
on an LG C6 running webOS 26. The listing expects webOS 6 and later; older
versions have not been physically tested.
PrivacyShield 0.1.12
PrivacyShield 0.1.12
This release adds a phone-friendly way to send read-only compatibility results from an LG TV. In TV details, choose Prepare compatibility report. Scan the first QR code to copy the sanitized JSON, then scan the second to open the public report form. The TV does not upload the report.
Test on another TV
Install the IPK asset with a webOS Homebrew-compatible installer. Use the TV testing guide. Unmapped models remain read-only; do not test settings writes on them.
Verification
- 40 Node tests and 29 Python tests pass.
- 10 packaged Chromium scenarios pass, including 18 synthetic B1–B6, C1–C6, and G1–G6 identities. They verify labeling, navigation, read-only controls, and zero writer calls; they do not emulate each model's firmware or private settings schema.
zbarimgdecoded the report QR to the exact sanitized JSON and the second QR to the exact issue-form URL.- The official Homebrew manifest generator and IPK verifier completed. The verifier reports ES2017 syntax compatibility from the webOS 6.4 / Chromium 79 profile onward; its runtime API scan shows
polyfill?for that oldest profile andnativefor later profiles.
Settings writes remain limited to the exact validated OLED77C6HUP / SDK 11.2.0 / firmware 43.21.79 profile.
PrivacyShield 0.1.11
PrivacyShield 0.1.11
This release packages the model-scoped privacy controls and the pinned public evidence catalog for LG B, C, and G series.
- The browser scripts target Chromium 79, the web engine in webOS 6.
- Controls can write only on the exact OLED77C6HUP / SDK 11.2.0 / firmware 43.21.79 profile. Other model and firmware combinations remain read-only.
- Compatibility reports are prepared locally and omit setting values and household identifiers.
Verification
npm test: 40 Node tests and 29 Python tests passed.npm run test:ipk: all 10 packaged headless Chromium scenarios passed.- Homebrew
webosbrew-ipk-verify0.10.0 reports ES2017 syntax and no syntax incompatibility for its webOS 6.4.0 / Chromium 79 profile or later. It reports a runtime API warning for 6.4.0; this is a static check, not execution on every TV. - The manifest was generated with the official Homebrew manifest generator.

PrivacyShield v0.1.4
Fix remote focus behavior for the privacy controls. The focused switch stays available while its write is pending, so consecutive OK presses work without navigating away and back. Duplicate changes during an in-flight write are ignored.
