Breaking Changes

Refactored to blob-based caching with zero-decompression save architecture.

  • Removes v1 bundle format support - old bundles cannot be loaded
  • New cache structure at ~/.imgcd/cache/blobs/ - previous cache will not be used

Performance Improvements

  • 50-80% faster with cache hits (tested: Postgres:15 16.07s → 5.56s)
  • Zero-decompression save - downloads compressed blobs directly
  • Parallel blob downloads with progress reporting
  • Streaming I/O with constant memory usage

Technical Details

  • Save: Download compressed → verify → cache → pack (no decompression)
  • Load: Unpack → decompress → verify → rebuild Docker format
  • New bundle format: metadata.json with digest↔diffid mapping
  • Cross-image layer deduplication in cache
