What's New

One-Command Install

Flint now installs with a single command — no manual setup required:

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/sohan-shingade/flint/main/install.sh | bash

The installer detects your OS, installs Python and Node if needed, clones the repo, builds the UI, starts the server, and opens your browser.

Browser Setup Wizard

First-time users see an interactive setup wizard instead of a blank dashboard:

  1. Welcome — Get Started button
  2. Market Selection — pick from all available Drift markets, choose backfill period (30-180 days)
  3. API Keys — optional Birdeye/Helius keys (collapsible, easy to skip)
  4. Download Progress — per-market progress bars as data downloads
  5. Done — jump straight to backtesting

The wizard replaces flint init for browser-based users. CLI flint init still works for terminal users.

Docker Polish

  • Smart entrypoint auto-generates config on first run
  • Named Docker volume for data persistence (survives docker compose down)
  • Built-in healthcheck (/api/v1/health)
  • Optional .env file support for API keys
  • One-liner: docker compose up → opens browser → setup wizard

Makefile

Dev convenience targets for clone-and-hack users:

make install # pip install + npm install
make dev # hot-reload API + UI
make serve # production build + serve
make test # run all 676 tests
make build # build Docker image
make clean # remove generated files

New API Endpoints

  • GET /api/v1/system/status — returns {initialized, version} for first-run detection
  • POST /api/v1/system/config — save API keys to .env (preserves comments and existing keys)

Other Improvements

  • FlintStore.has_candles() method for efficient data existence checks
  • Updated README with all installation options
  • Updated in-app documentation (Installation + Docker sections)
