Swarm Code 1.8.13 resolves GitLab MCP OAuth rejection loops and group permission setup guidance, implements MCP protocol version negotiation (2025-11-25) for GitLab, expands OAuth discovery to POST-only servers like Tavily and Resend, and upgrades Exa Search to direct HTTP transport. Apple silicon, macOS 26 or later.

Bug fixes

  • GitLab OAuth 403 & Sign-in Loop: Resolved a bug where GitLab's "MCP server not enabled for any of your groups" 403 response was treated as unauthorized OAuth, purging valid credentials and causing a continuous "Sign-in was rejected" loop. Swarm Code now preserves the OAuth token, marks the connection as requiring setup, and provides direct instructions to enable group-level MCP access.
  • Safe OAuth Credential Retention: Updated MCPStore so only genuine HTTP 401 Unauthorized responses trigger credential sign-out, preventing permission or policy denials (403) from wiping stored Keychain credentials.
  • Exa Search MCP Transport: Reconfigured Exa MCP from unsupported OAuth to direct HTTP transport (https://mcp.exa.ai/mcp) with optional API key support, enabling instant, error-free web search capabilities.
  • OAuth Discovery POST Fallback: Added automatic HTTP POST fallback in MCPOAuth.protectedResourceMetadataURL when endpoints return HTTP 405 to GET requests, enabling seamless OAuth discovery for servers such as Tavily and Resend.

Refinements

  • Protocol Version Negotiation: Added dynamic protocol version selection in MCPWire and MCPProbe, negotiating 2025-11-25 for GitLab while preserving 2024-11-05 across other catalog servers to avoid version mismatch errors.
  • GitLab Setup Guidance: Clarified instructions in MCPSetupGuide guiding users directly to Group Settings › General › Permissions and group features › Model Context Protocol (MCP).

Swarm Code 1.8.12 fixes critical MCP proxy routing and subpath forwarding, chunked HTTP request handling, empty header placeholder dropping, Figma personal access token authentication, asynchronous login shell environment loading, and robust multi-tier Codex MCP recovery. Apple silicon, macOS 26 or later.

Bug fixes

  • MCP Proxy Subpath & Query Routing: Fixed a 502 Bad Gateway error caused by strict path matching in MCPProxy. The proxy now accurately forwards arbitrary subpaths and query strings (e.g. /messages, /sse?session_id=...) to upstream servers.
  • Chunked Request Decoding: Added progressive HTTP/1.1 chunked transfer-encoding decoding to MCPProxy, eliminating 411 Length Required errors with streaming client libraries.
  • Empty Header & Token Sanitization: Sanitized resolved headers in MCPCatalogEntry+Resolve to cleanly drop unset optional placeholders (such as {key} in Context7) and empty Bearer headers rather than sending malformed credentials.
  • Figma Token Authentication: Replaced unsupported dynamic OAuth registration on Figma with direct personal access token support (X-Figma-Token and Authorization), matching official Figma API standards.
  • Codex Session Resilience: Updated CodexSession and MCPProviderConfig to validate server transports before writing and gracefully fallback to local stdio servers if a remote MCP endpoint is temporarily unreachable.
  • Asynchronous Environment Initialization: Ensured LoginEnvironment.load() is fully awaited prior to binary resolution in MCPProbe and MCPHub, preventing false "command missing" errors for npx, uvx, and custom tools on startup.

Refinements

  • Protocol Standardization: Aligned default protocol version to official Model Context Protocol release (2024-11-05) across MCPWire and JavaScript bridge source.
  • OAuth Discovery Compatibility: Expanded MCPOAuth protected resource metadata detection to accept HTTP 403 and 405 responses containing WWW-Authenticate challenge headers.
  • Extended Shell Environment Timeout: Increased login environment read timeout from 8s to 15s to accommodate comprehensive user shells with heavy zsh/nvm/conda configurations.
