nju-connect 1.1.1 macOS release

This release contains a universal macOS menu-bar app and the bundled native CLI.

Release boundary:

  • VPN setup, background runtime control, status, traffic, and campus speed testing use the bundled CLI.
  • Campus speed testing requires the separate librespeed-cli-nju-connect Homebrew Formula.
  • The app and CLI are ad-hoc signed and are not Apple-notarized.
  • nju-connect is available under AGPL-3.0; corresponding source is published with each release.
  • The Cask does not remove quarantine or bypass Gatekeeper.

Provenance:

  • Source repository: https://github.com/soundadam/nju-connect
  • Source commit: 053ecd71c99b995b36b125671a4c18f6fb8c1cb5

  • Architectures: arm64 and x86_64
  • Minimum macOS: 13 Ventura

Linux and Windows

Standalone CLI archives for Linux and Windows (amd64 and arm64) are attached next to the darwin ones: nju-connect_1.1.1_<os>_<arch>.tar.gz, or .zip for Windows. Verify them with SHA256SUMS. Linux users with Homebrew can run brew install soundadam/tap/nju-connect. Windows has no connect --background and no status; see the platform table.

Changes since 1.1.0

  • macOS app: traffic row stays inside the panel. The traffic stats are three equal columns that shrink, so long values like "894 bytes" no longer push the section past the panel edges.
  • macOS app: the speed dot follows the tunnel. While the VPN is connected, probes go through it. They rerun every 30 s while the panel is open and immediately when the VPN changes, the dot is judged on the latest round only, and a failed round shows "Unreachable".
  • macOS app: the inspector matches the panel. It uses the panel's header, charts, and palette.
  • Releases include Linux and Windows CLI archives.

nju-connect 1.1.0 macOS release

This release contains a universal macOS menu-bar app and the bundled native CLI.

Release boundary:

  • VPN setup, background runtime control, status, traffic, and campus speed testing use the bundled CLI.
  • Campus speed testing requires the separate librespeed-cli-nju-connect Homebrew Formula.
  • The app and CLI are ad-hoc signed and are not Apple-notarized.
  • nju-connect is available under AGPL-3.0; corresponding source is published with each release.
  • The Cask does not remove quarantine or bypass Gatekeeper.

  • Architectures: arm64 and x86_64
  • Minimum macOS: 13 Ventura

Changes since 1.1.0-alpha.2

  • Credentials are owner-only files on every platform. The VPN password (credential) and the aTrust session (atrust-client-data) are 0600 files in the state directory; nju-connect no longer uses the OS keyring, and the credential_store setting is gone.
  • Upgrading: a password saved by an earlier build stays in the Keychain and is not read. Run nju-connect account set-password once.
  • Windows: config and secret files get a real owner check (owner SID + DACL), so the Windows CLI can load a configuration and save a password.
  • macOS app: panel laid out like the project page, English-only UI, SF Symbol menu-bar icon, animated panel sections.
