Opening multiple repositories from command line

Thank you for this great Git GUI, I've been using SourceGit for a year or so.

I'm opening Git repos using sourcegit from the command line. If I remember right, a few versions ago it was possible to open multiple repos in their own windows.

Now when I try to open a second repo and afterward, it only focuses the currently open window (first repo) and doesn't open them. I wonder if this might be a regression? I searched in the settings and also here in the issues, and didn't find a way to enable such a feature.

The application was recently changed to a single-instance mode. This might be related to the issue you're experiencing where new repositories are not opened from the command line, and instead, the existing window is focused.
The current logic for handling command-line arguments in this single-instance mode is to expect only a single argument, which should be the repository path. If no arguments or multiple arguments are provided, the path to the repository might be ignored, leading to the behavior you described.

What is the command you are using to open the second repository?

I'm usually running sourcegit . to open the current directory.

I think this is the answer. I'm guessing there's a technical reason for the change, and that it's probably not simple to optionally support multiple instances/windows.

Otherwise, I wonder if the second repo could be opened in a new tab intead?

You are right. It's hard to sync/save user settings in multiple-instances.

It's a bug. For relative path (such as .), SourceGit should convert it to absolute path first then send it the first instance. I'll try to fix it.

The outer double quotes are stripped and not passed to the program, eliminating the need for special handling.

I'm not sure it is handled in the same way both on Windows, Linux and macOS.

Aha, I get it, it was comparing the relative path . for the first and second repo, so the latter focused on the existing window and tab.
