Besides consistency, the 'git://' protocol is sometimes blocked on certain public wifi networks. 'https://' tends to bypass this.

I think submodules are going away per #56.

There's a lot of discussion about how best to handle this. See this thread from Vundle's repo where I describe my setup.

YEAH, so I just tried Vundle and I'm on board. Forget submodules.
