Tree doesn't always load properly #1397

Bug Report
Problematic behavior
Yesterday a concerned user came because she thought the just lost a sub doc.
She had been on and offline because of poor connectivity.
We troubleshooted together.
Trying to hard refresh
To get on and offline
After a while the tree reloaded properly and her document appeared.
Expected behavior/code
Subdocs should always load.
Steps to Reproduce
