Release list
v1.13.0 - Audit security fixes + splash screen
What's new
Security audit fixes
- BYOK API keys (Gemini / Hugging Face / Replicate) are now stored encrypted on device via SecureStore, with automatic migration from AsyncStorage
- Server logs no longer contain prompt text (replaced with a non-reversible hash fingerprint)
- Per-device rate limiting on /api/generate (10/hour, 1 concurrent in-flight)
Splash screen
- New frog mascot splash on launch, dark purple (#140D1C) background
- Fixed: the previous v1.13.0 build fell back to the default Expo splash because SDK 57 ignores the legacy top-level splash key
Signing
- Release signing is now enforced by a config plugin, so
expo prebuild --cleancan no longer silently fall back to the debug key
Cleanup
- Removed leftover Slideshow dead code
Upgrading
Install straight over v1.12.0 - same package, same signing key, no uninstall needed. Saved engines, gallery, history and settings all carry over. If you had BYOK keys saved, they migrate to SecureStore on first launch.

v1.12.0
FrogPaper Mobile 1.12.0 - release notes
App 1.12.0 (versionCode 51) · Android 7.0+
Five quality-of-life fixes, and the screens you use daily are one tap apart.
New
- Bottom tabs. Home, Generate, Gallery and Settings are tabs instead of a
deep back stack, so moving between them is one tap. Build, Detail, Slideshow
and Prompt history still open on top, and Back returns to the tab you came from. - A one-time update prompt. Home tells you when a newer release is out, with
"Get update" and "Later". Dismiss it and it stays quiet until something newer lands.
Improved
- See which engine made an image. The detail screen shows a "Made with" row,
read from the filename - no guessing whether a picture came from Pollinations,
Gemini, Hugging Face or Replicate. - Honest rotation timing. A failed automatic wallpaper now names the real
retry time instead of "next time you open the app", and Settings > Wallpaper
keeps a "Last automatic change" record that survives a restart. - Locked engines explain themselves. A greyed-out engine no longer swallows
your tap - it opens the key sheet, which can jump straight to the right Settings card.
Install
- Download
FrogPaper-release-signed.apkbelow. - Android 7.0 or newer. Allow installs from your browser or file manager when
Android asks ("Install unknown apps"). - Install over an existing FrogPaper install - same release key (
CN=FrogPaper),
so there is no need to uninstall first.

Notes
- Generating needs a reachable FrogPaper backend; the app ships pointing at the
public one. Your own API keys stay on the phone. - App checks: 15 suites, 693 checks passing (
check:sentryneeds a DSN). The APK
is signed with the FrogPaper release key (CN=FrogPaper,

FrogPaper Mobile 1.11.2 — Engine-aware automatic wallpapers
FrogPaper Mobile 1.11.2 - release notes
App 1.11.2 (versionCode 51) · Android 7.0+
A small, focused fix: automatic wallpapers now use the engine you picked.
Fixed
- Automatic wallpapers use your saved engine. "Once a day" and "Every time
I open" with the "Surprise me" source used to generate through Pollinations
even after you chose Hugging Face, Gemini or Replicate on the Generate screen.
The automatic run now reads the saved engine, checks it is still usable
(active, or with your own key), and asks the backend for that engine
explicitly. - No more silent Pollinations wallpaper. If the selected engine's key is
gone, the engine is no longer offered, or the backend quietly falls back to
the free engine, the run is treated as a failure: the current wallpaper stays,
and the usual 2-hour retry cooldown applies. - Fresh installs are unchanged. With no engine ever saved, the backend
default (free Pollinations) is used exactly as before.
Install
- Download

same release key, so there is no need to uninstall first.

public one. Your own API keys stay on the phone. - App checks: 15 suites, 646 checks passing (

FrogPaper Mobile 1.11.1 — Editable options
FrogPaper Mobile 1.11.1 - release notes
App 1.11.1 (versionCode 50) · Android 7.0+
The quick follow-up to the Halloween Edition: the Build screen's options are
now editable, like the desktop app's dropdowns.
New
- Type your own value in any Build-screen option. Every row's picker
(mode, subject, setting, style, lighting, colour, mood, atmosphere - and
recipe slots) now has a text field at the top: type anything, tap Use,
and it lands in the prompt exactly as typed. "halloween" as a subject? Go
ahead. Values you typed show up selected, and opening the sheet again starts
from your text so you can edit it. - Five new builder checks cover custom values end to end - a typed
subject, a typed mode with no real mode data, setting prepositions, and a
custom atmosphere surviving composition with a real mode.
Notes
- Nothing changes about your existing selections, recipes or wallpapers.
- App checks: 15 suites, 635 checks, all passing. The release APK builds and
is signed with the FrogPaper release key.
FrogPaper Mobile 1.11.0 — Halloween Edition
FrogPaper Mobile 1.11.0 - Halloween Edition - release notes
App 1.11.0 (versionCode 49) · Android 7.0+
A small seasonal release: the app puts on its Halloween costume.
New
- Halloween theme. For this release the app is dressed in pumpkin orange
on a haunted purple night - buttons, cards, notices, controls and every
surface follow the seasonal palette. Nothing about how the app works
changes; it just looks ready for the 31st. - Full file name on the image screen. The detail view now shows the
complete file name (it wraps, and you can select it); gallery captions wrap
to two lines so long names stay readable. - Palette check. A new headless check (
npm run check:theme) keeps the
classic and Halloween palettes interchangeable - same tokens, the same
contrast floors, and no brand colours leaking out of the theme file.
Notes
- Your wallpapers, gallery, prompts, keys and settings are untouched.
- The frog-green look is not gone: the next release flips one switch
(EDITIONinsrc/theme.js) and the app returns to it. - App checks: 15 suites, 630 checks, all passing. The release APK builds and
is signed with the FrogPaper release key (signature verified against the
documented fingerprint).
FrogPaper Mobile 1.10.0
FrogPaper Mobile 1.10.0 - release notes
App 1.10.0 (versionCode 48) · Android 7.0+
This is a big quality-of-life release: the gallery becomes searchable and easy to
manage, and the wallpaper you set is now fully in your control.
New
- Star wallpapers. Tap the ★ on an image (or the ★ badge on a gallery tile).
Wallpaper rotation's "My favourites" now rotates through your starred
pictures - previously "favourites" meant favourite text prompts. - Search, sort & filter the gallery. Search by the name or the prompt;
sort by newest / oldest / favourites first / A-Z; a favourites-only filter; and
a caption toggle (file name vs prompt). Your sort and filter are remembered
between visits. - Long-press action sheet. Long-press a tile for Set as wallpaper / Add to
favourites / Save to device / Share / Delete - no need to open the image. - Undo a delete. A delete is undoable for 5 seconds (a bar shows "Undo").
- Prompt history. A new screen lists every prompt your wallpapers were made
from, built from the phone's own gallery, with Make again and Edit. - Share & bulk actions. Share an image to any app through the system share
sheet; a Select mode ticks several tiles to Save or Delete them
together. - Faster gallery. Cached 360px thumbnails plus list tuning keep the grid
light with a large collection. - Engine status in Settings - see which AI engines are ready right now.
- Storage view & Clear cache - gallery / thumbnails / offline-cache sizes,
with a one-tap Clear cache that never touches your wallpapers. - Home / Lock / Both. Choose which surface "Set as wallpaper" paints.
- "New wallpaper now" button on Home, and a one-time long-press tip.
- Home / Lock screen / Both chooser (Android).
Backend
- Searchable filenames. Generated images now carry a short slug of the prompt,
e.g.pollinations_20260927-1502_lily-pond-at-dawn.png(the provider prefix
stays first so storage classification is unchanged). Uploads get a slug from
the original name too. Takes effect on the next backend deploy / local run.
Notes
- Nothing about your existing wallpapers changes; the new gallery features read
the prompts already stored beside each saved image. - Share works through the standard Android share sheet (one image at a time).
- App checks: 13 suites, 593 checks, all passing. Backend: subject enhancer 98 +
filenames 17. Web bundle compiles. Release APK builds and installs on a Galaxy
S9 (Android 10).
FrogPaper Mobile v1.9.58
FrogPaper Mobile 1.9.58 — first public release
Turn a few words into a phone wallpaper. No account, no sign-up, nothing to configure — install it and start typing.
Install (Android 7.0 or newer)
Download FrogPaper-1.9.58-release-signed.apk from this release.
Android will ask whether to allow installing from this source — allow it. (That question appears for anything not installed from the Play Store.)
Open FrogPaper, type two words like “frog in a lily pond”, tap Generate.
What’s in it
Make wallpapers from words — two words is enough. Tap the dice for a surprise, or open Build and pick from lists (subject, style, lighting, colour, mood, atmosphere).
Set it as your wallpaper in one tap, or let FrogPaper change it once a day on its own.
Everything stays on your phone. Wallpapers are saved on the device, never on a server, and nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Offline-friendly — the newest wallpapers stay on the phone, so the gallery opens with no signal. Anything that could not be made is retried later.
No account, no ads, no tracking, free. The default engine needs no key at all.
Optional: add your own free Google Gemini or Hugging Face key in Settings for sharper results. Entirely optional — the app never uses anyone else’s keys.
Good to know
The first wallpaper can take up to a minute. The image service sleeps when nobody is using it and wakes when you ask. After that it is quick. If it times out, tap Retry — it costs nothing.
Backend: a small free-tier server handles the generation. If it is busy you may see a brief wait.
Requirements: Android 7.0+, roughly 80 MB of storage.
