Upgrade
Install or upgrade from PyPI:
pip install --upgrade streamcables
Or with uv:
uv tool install streamcables
From a source checkout, run:
uv run streamcables
make run does the same. The old command, uv run python streamcables/streamcables.py, no longer works.
Dependencies are updated to their latest versions.
Details
PyPI release
0.3.0 is the first release published to PyPI since 0.1.0. New version tags now publish to PyPI automatically.
Installed copies start
Earlier installed copies failed on start with ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'arg'. The modules imported each other by flat names that only worked from a source checkout. Installing now gives you a working streamcables command.
The default settings file now ships inside the package. The first run of an installed copy creates your settings file instead of failing.
How we checked
| Check | Result |
|---|---|
| Test suite, including a new test that runs the program as an installed module | 6 passed |
| Lint and format checks | Pass |
| Built wheel run from outside the repository | Created the settings file and exited without a traceback |
| Release workflow | Published 0.3.0 to PyPI |
Known gaps
- A missing or misspelt plugin name in
settings.tomlstops StreamCables on start. It is not skipped with a warning. - This release did not test the polling loop against a live icecast stream.
