What's New

Remote Terminals Keep Running When the Other Side Restarts

  • Terminals on a remote (peer) computer are now held by that computer's background process. When the app on the other side quits, crashes, or updates, its terminals keep running and your tab reconnects to the same shell.
  • When the other computer stops sharing a workspace or revokes pairing, you are notified right away and any PDF on screen is closed.
  • Revoked devices stop redialing, so the host no longer burns CPU on them.
  • A Windows host no longer asks for firewall permission on every launch.

External tmux

  • Pick an authorized tmux socket from the Integrations menu in the bottom-right toolbar and attach a pane that is already running.
  • Closing the tab or quitting Termdock only detaches; work inside tmux keeps running.
  • Authorized sockets are listed and can be revoked when no longer needed.

PDF Preview

  • Open PDFs in remote workspaces, the web client, and on your phone.
  • Paging and zooming do not reload the file.
  • Files that are too large, damaged, or not permitted show a clear status.

Dispatch and Waiting

  • Wait on a terminal until some text appears, a regex matches, or the session ends.
  • Dispatches go into a queue you can query; queued work can be edited or cancelled.
  • After sending, check the status, wait for completion, or keep tracking it in the background.

Web and Mobile

  • You can paste text into web terminals.
  • Local terminals held in the background now show live output on the web.
  • After an automatic reconnect the old disconnect error is cleared.
  • Clicking a terminal in a desktop browser no longer pushes the view off screen.

Terminal Stability

  • Startup, the terminal list, and connections no longer time out when many terminals are open.
  • Visible tabs appear at startup without waiting for every background terminal to restore.
  • A terminal whose output backs up now pauses on its own instead of disconnecting every other terminal.
  • Reconnecting no longer shifts the screen up or leaves colored blocks behind.

Interface and Settings

  • Cmd/Ctrl+F in the code and Markdown editors focuses the search box right away.
  • The quit confirmation is no longer hidden behind other dialogs.
  • On Windows, Ctrl+Shift+W closes a tab even while a terminal has focus; Ctrl+W stays with the shell to delete a word.
  • Settings interrupted mid-write are no longer reset on the next launch.

Notes

  • Remote terminals do not survive the other computer signing out or shutting down. They do survive its app quitting, crashing, and updating.
  • SSH terminals still end with the app.
  • tmux integration currently supports local tmux on macOS.

Installation Instructions

  1. Download the installer for your platform
  2. On macOS, open the DMG and drag Termdock to Applications folder
  3. On macOS, first launch may require allowing the app in System Preferences > Security & Privacy
