Release list
Palace v0.16.0
What's new
New
- Several repositories at once, side by side: Cmd+N (Ctrl+N on Linux), or New Window at the top of the repository menu, opens another window to choose a repository in. Each window keeps up with its own repository, with its own fetches, history and terminals, so Claude Code can work in one project while you review another. Window titles name their repositories, to tell them apart when switching.
- A repository opens in one window at a time: opening one that's already open in another window brings that window forward.
Changes
- Closing a window with programs running in its terminals, or edits not saved, asks first. Quitting asks about every window's.
- Settings changed in one window apply in the others straight away.
Install
Ubuntu / Debian: download the .deb, then run
sudo apt install ./Palace_*.deb in the folder you saved it to.
Other distributions: download the .AppImage, make it executable
(chmod +x Palace_*.AppImage) and run it. It needs git installed,
and on Ubuntu 22.04 and later, libfuse2 (libfuse2t64 on 24.04 and later).
macOS (11 or later, Apple Silicon or Intel): download the .dmg, open it and
drag Palace to Applications. It isn't signed by Apple yet, so the first time
you open it, macOS refuses. Go to System Settings › Privacy & Security and click
Open Anyway. If macOS says Palace is damaged, run
xattr -cr /Applications/Palace.app in Terminal and open it again.
Palace v0.15.3
What's new
Changes
- Shift+Enter starts a new line wherever Claude Code is running, including when you start
claudeyourself in a terminal tab. Once Claude Code exits, Shift+Enter is Enter again.
Fixes
- Claude commands that start with something else, such as
cd api && claudeor a shell alias, open again instead of reporting the command wasn't found. - Renaming a file to change only its capitalization, such as
readme.mdtoREADME.md, now works on a Mac. - A file saved just before you switch to another no longer comes back marked as changed on disk, or as not saved.
- Palace can always be quit: if its window ever stops responding while terminals are running, trying to quit a second time quits.
Palace v0.15.2
What's new
Changes
- Undo, offered when you need it: the toolbar's Undo and Redo buttons are gone. After anything Palace can undo, such as discarding changes, committing or dropping a stash, a notice offers Undo instead. Cmd+Z and Cmd+Shift+Z (Ctrl on Linux) still undo and redo outside text fields.
- One button to catch up: the Refresh button is gone too. Fetch now also reloads the repository, and so does Cmd+R (Ctrl+R on Linux). Palace still keeps itself up to date as files change and when you come back to it.
- GitHub and Settings have moved out of the Workspace list, since they aren't about the open repository: GitHub is beside Open Repository at the top of the sidebar, showing your avatar when you're signed in, and Settings is the gear at the bottom.
Fixes
- Edit as Text on an SVG's preview now shows its text straight away.
Install
Ubuntu / Debian: download the .deb, then run
sudo apt install ./Palace_*.deb in the folder you saved it to.
Other distributions: download the .AppImage, make it executable

Palace v0.15.1
What's new
New
- See what you've changed while editing: in the Files view, bars beside the line numbers mark lines added or changed since the last commit, and a mark shows where lines were removed. Click one to see the lines as they were, and Revert to put them back.
- A status bar under the editor shows the line and column, the indentation, line endings, encoding and language. Click the position, or press Ctrl+G, to go to a line.
- More in the Files view's right-click menu: Duplicate, Reveal in Finder (Files on Linux), Copy Path, Open in Default App, and Open Terminal Here, which starts a terminal in that folder.
- The file tree takes the keyboard: arrows move through it and open and close folders, and Enter opens a file. Opening a file from the tree leaves the keys there, so you can keep browsing.
- Open in Editor in the Working Copy now opens the file in Palace, ready to edit. Open in Default App, below it, opens it as before.
- Back and Forward now include the files you open in the Files view.
- SVGs can be edited as text, from their preview, and files too large to edit (up to 10 MB) open read-only instead of not at all.
- Claude tabs check that Claude Code is installed first. If it isn't, Palace says how to install it and can type Anthropic's installer into a terminal for you to run.
Fixes
- The file tree's keyboard position shows as a slim bar beside the row instead of an outline.
- Cmd+P (Ctrl+P) in the Files view now finds new files that aren't committed yet.
- Wrap long lines in Settings › Diffs now applies to the editor too.

Palace v0.14.1
What's new
New
- Create, rename and delete files: right-click the Files view's tree for New File, New Folder, Rename and Delete. Names can include new folders, such as
docs/guide.md. A new file opens ready to write, a renamed one stays open with any edits you haven't saved, and Delete moves the file or folder to the Trash after asking.
Install
Ubuntu / Debian: download the .deb, then run
sudo apt install ./Palace_*.deb in the folder you saved it to.
Other distributions: download the .AppImage, make it executable
(chmod +x Palace_*.AppImage) and run it. It needs git installed,

Palace v0.14.0
What's new
New
- Files: a new Files view, first in the sidebar, shows your working copy as it is on disk, with each file's git status and a dot on folders that have changes inside. Turn on Ignored to see dependencies and build output too.
- Edit files in Palace: open a file to edit it, with syntax coloring for most languages, find and replace, and multiple cursors. Save with Cmd+S (Ctrl+S on Linux). Cmd+P (Ctrl+P) finds a file by name. Images show as previews, and very large or binary files open in your own editor.
- Your edits are safe: saving keeps each file's line endings and permissions, and won't overwrite changes made meanwhile by another program, such as Claude Code. Edits you haven't saved stay with their file while you look elsewhere, and quitting with any asks first.
Changes
- Terminals scroll faster on a Mac, to match the rest of macOS. Hold Option to scroll faster still.
Install
Ubuntu / Debian: download the .deb, then run
sudo apt install ./Palace_*.deb in the folder you saved it to.
Other distributions: download the .AppImage, make it executable
(chmod +x Palace_*.AppImage) and run it. It needs git installed,

Open Anyway. If macOS says Palace is damaged, run
xattr -cr /Applications/Palace.app in Terminal and open it again.
Palace v0.13.1
What's new
Fixes
- Pasting into a busy terminal no longer freezes the other terminals, and much of Palace, until the program reads what was pasted.
- Quitting with programs running in terminals, or closing the window, now asks first, naming what's still running, such as a dev server or Claude Code.
- Ctrl+V in Linux terminals now goes to the program, as in other terminals, for Vim and others that use it. Ctrl+Shift+V pastes. In Claude tabs, Ctrl+V still pastes text, or an image into Claude Code.
- Shift+Enter starts a new line only in Claude tabs. Elsewhere it's Enter, as other programs expect.
Install
Ubuntu / Debian: download the .deb, then run
sudo apt install ./Palace_*.deb in the folder you saved it to.
Other distributions: download the .AppImage, make it executable
(chmod +x Palace_*.AppImage) and run it. It needs git installed,

Palace v0.13.0
What's new
New
- Terminals inside Palace: the toolbar's new terminal button opens a panel below the history with your shell, started in the repository's folder. Open as many tabs as you like, say one for a dev server and another for git. The panel's height can be dragged, and closing a tab with something still running in it asks first.
- Claude tabs: the Claude button opens a tab running Claude Code, so you can watch its changes arrive in the working copy, review them and commit, all in one window. Choose the command it runs for each repository from the panel's ⋯ menu, such as
claude --dangerously-skip-permissions. - Open in Terminal, in the repository menu, now opens a new tab in Palace's terminal panel instead of a separate terminal app.
Changes
- Ctrl+Shift+O (Cmd+Shift+O on a Mac) no longer opens the repository's folder. Open in Files (Finder on a Mac) is still in the repository menu.
Fixes
- Very long diffs with wrapping turned on no longer fail to show.
- Check Now in Settings › Updates shows the result straight away when Palace happens to be checking in the background already.

Palace v0.12.2
What's new
New
- Wrap long lines in diffs: turn on Wrap long lines in Settings › Diffs to wrap long lines in the unified layout instead of scrolling sideways. Side by side already wraps.
Fixes
- Moving the window (macOS): the window can now be dragged from the top of Settings and from the GitHub view's headers, not only from the top of the sidebar.
- Signed out of GitHub, Issues and Pull Requests no longer stay in the sidebar. They come back when you sign in.

Palace v0.12.1
