Quicker Folders v0.5.6 — Release Notes
Improvement
- Ribbon button — Ribbon button icon now dynamically updates to reflect the current state (pin/pin-off).
0.5.5
Quicker Folders v0.5.5 — Release Notes
New Features
- Right-click context menu — Right-click any note in the file explorer to quickly "Set index note" or "Remove index note", adding or removing
index_note: truefrom the note's frontmatter. - Ribbon button — A new ribbon button to toggle index note status on the active file. Can be shown/hidden via a new "Show ribbon button" setting.
0.5.4: Front(matter) and center
Quicker Folders v0.5.4 — Release Notes
New Features
- Frontmatter index support — Add
index_note: trueto any note's frontmatter to set it as the folder's index, without needing "index" in the filename. Frontmatter takes priority over keyword matching. - Command palette commands — Quickly set or remove a note as the folder index:
Quicker Folders: Set current note as indexQuicker Folders: Remove current note as index
Bug Fixes
- Nested folder fallback now works correctly — When the nested folder behavior setting doesn't find a result, the plugin now properly falls through to the user's chosen fallback setting, searching recursively through subfolders.
Improvements
- Keyword Save button — The keyword setting now uses an explicit Save button with visual feedback ("Saved!" confirmation + toast notification) instead of saving on every keystroke.
- Renamed "Topmost" to "Alphabetical" — The fallback dropdown option is now labeled "Alphabetical" to better describe its behavior.
0.5.3
Quicker Folders v0.5.3 — Release Notes
Bug Fixes
- Nested folder fallback now works correctly — When the nested folder behavior setting (e.g. "Recently edited index") doesn't find a result, the plugin now properly falls through to the user's chosen fallback setting, searching recursively through subfolders.
Improvements
- Keyword Save button — The keyword setting now uses an explicit Save button with visual feedback ("Saved!" confirmation + toast notification) instead of saving on every keystroke.
- Renamed "Topmost" to "Alphabetical" — The fallback dropdown option is now labeled "Alphabetical" to better describe its behavior, especially in nested folder contexts.
0.5.2: New name and more customization!
Quicker Folders v0.5.2 — Release Notes
Renamed to Quicker Folders
The plugin has been renamed from its previous name to Quicker Folders
New Features
-
Customizable keyword setting — You can now change the keyword used to match index notes (default:
index). A minimum of 3 characters is enforced to prevent unintended partial matches. -
Nested folder behavior setting — When a folder contains only subfolders and no direct notes, a new setting controls what happens:
- Open the most recently edited subfolder index
- Open the most recently edited note recursively
- Do nothing
-
Default fallback changed to "most recent" — The fallback behavior when no index note is found now defaults to opening the most recently edited note.
Improvements
- Added MIT license
- Added AI disclosure to README
- Improved README with better descriptions, examples, settings reference, and tips
- Added
authorUrlandfundingUrlto the plugin manifest
0.5.1
v0.5.1 — Fix folder toggle prevention
Bug Fix
- Fixed "Allow folder toggle" not working reliably across all vaults. Previously, the plugin only intercepted DOM events (click, mousedown, etc.) to prevent folders from expanding/collapsing. This worked inconsistently — in some vaults, Obsidian's internal file explorer would still toggle the folder despite the events being stopped.
What changed
- The plugin now patches the file explorer's
setCollapsedmethod directly on the folder item prototype. When "Allow folder toggle" is disabled, the patched method blocks the collapse/expand call at the source, regardless of how Obsidian triggers it. - Event listeners upgraded from
documenttowindowlevel and now coverpointerdown, pointerup, mousedown, andmouseupfor more complete interception. - The patch is cleanly removed when the plugin is unloaded.
0.5.0: Hello World
FolderIndex v0.5.0
Initial release of FolderIndex — an Obsidian plugin that opens a note when you click on a folder.
Features
- Index note detection — Clicks on a folder name open its index note. Exact matches (
index.md) are preferred over partial matches (e.g.Book Index.md). - Fallback behavior — Choose what happens when no index note exists: open the most recently edited note, the topmost note (alphabetical), or do nothing.
- Strict matching — Optionally require the index note to be titled exactly
index.md. Off by default. - Folder toggle control — Optionally prevent folders from expanding/collapsing when clicking the folder name. The arrow always works.
Installation
