Due to popular demand, an option to delete (purge) attachments from emails without first saving them is being implemented and will be available in version 2.0.2 of Extract 'Em!
This option, referred to as "Purge Mode", must be enabled in the add-on's settings (under the Storage Options) before it can be used.

When enabled, following attachment discovery, the user is presented with three options for how to proceed with the discovered attachments:

The sub-option "Purge inline attachments" is provided to include inline-attached files in the purge operation. (This does not affect "embeds", which are certain inline-attached files not recognized by Thunderbird -- or more precisely the Thunderbird Extensions API -- as attachments, and therefore cannot be deleted.)
Discovered duplicate attachments are always included in purge operations.
Purging is only available when the user interacts with the add-on; it does not operate under automated circumstances, such as when "Extract on receive" executes.
