Here are the steps needed to get the project running on your local machines:
- install composer, our dependency manager, from this website https://getcomposer.org/doc/00-intro.md
- install XAMPP, our web server, https://www.apachefriends.org/fr/index.html and start all 5 services from the XAMPP control pannel.
- git clone the repository, which has a laravel project in it, and open the project with PHPStorm. This preferred IDE can be found here https://www.jetbrains.com/phpstorm/download/#section=windows. To have access to it for 1 year free, get a license on their website using your concordia email.
- run "composer install" to install dependecies
- Some dependencies are missing so you need to run "composer update --no-scripts" in the command line when you are in the root of the project. this will create a vendor folder. needed to run everything soomthly.
- In phpmyadmin, the admin of Mysql in Xampp, create a database called "projectub3" to have a local db.
- In command line, run "php artisan migrate" to create database tables
- In command line, run "php artisan db:seed" to fill tables with data. Now you have a running local database to work with!
- In command line, run "php artisan serve" to host website and access it by localhost:8000. Now the website can be reached!
Hope this will help set up all your local machines!
EXTRA: We are now using the ZenHub plugin to make burndown charts of our issues progress. You can get the plugin to attach to your chrome browser at: https://www.zenhub.com/blog/burndown-charts-in-github/
EXTRA2: Tests are done using Laravel Dusk. To run the tests locally, have one command prompt running the website with "php artisan serve" and in ANOTHER command prompt, run "php artisan dusk". If an error about not finding 'Laravel\Dusk\DuskServiceProvider' pops up, try running "composer update --no-scripts" again.
