File upload indicator doesn't work for large files

Upload a very large file (100MB) and watch the file progress indicator...

expected behavior - it does something...like shows upload progress...
current behavior - it shows 0% and then the UI flashes after sitting there for many seconds the file appears

Turns out this is a problem for smaller / medium-size uploads as well -- progress bar goes basically from 0-100 w/no usable feedback. We've observed this with 3/3 of our informal user sessions (bruzzi, Nathan and Wes all experienced it - uncertainty about whether files were uploading or frozen.)

@bryceglass - the upload progress bar for challenge submission works well. It's a different design/widget, but can we just use that instead?

@dayal, yeah I think this'll be fine (as long as it displays legibly in the smaller footprint of the existing DIV..

I thought the short-term fix was to replace a 'progress' bar (showing degree of completion) w/a simple 'activity' (sh-t's happening) indicator?

How about we just put this in the DIV until the file is available?
