What's Changed

Added

  • RDP clipboard direction control (users reported the one-way clipboard workaround) — the RDP connection editor's "Clipboard Sharing" switch is now a four-way selector: Off, Remote to local only, Local to remote only, or Both directions. One-way sync previously needed a hand-written /clipboard:direction-to: custom argument. The external FreeRDP client maps the choice to /clipboard:direction-to:…,files-to:… and the embedded IronRDP backend enforces it in-app. Backward compatible: a profile written before this feature loads as Both (clipboard was on) or Off, and the old on/off state is kept in sync so a downgrade still reads correctly. (rustconn-core/src/models/protocol.rs, rustconn-core/src/protocol/freerdp.rs, rustconn-core/src/rdp_client/, rustconn/src/dialogs/connection/rdp.rs, rustconn/src/embedded_rdp/)
  • QUIC (quicssh) preset on the SSH ProxyCommand row — SSH over QUIC via moul/quicssh — the ProxyCommand row gains a QUIC button that fills in quicssh client --addr %h:%p, giving an ordinary SSH connection a QUIC transport with connection migration (roaming between networks) and UDP NAT traversal for ISP-NATed hosts. Because it is a preset and not a new protocol type, jump hosts, exports, vault keys, connection testing and reconnect all apply unchanged. The tooltip reports whether quicssh was found and notes that the Flatpak/Snap builds only see binaries reachable inside the sandbox. (rustconn/src/dialogs/connection/ssh.rs, rustconn-core/src/ssh_tunnel.rs, rustconn-core/src/protocol/detection.rs)
  • Auto-hide the sidebar on connect (issue #401) — a new opt-in switch in Settings → Interface (Connections group). When enabled, opening a session collapses the connection sidebar to free space; it reappears when you reveal it with the sidebar toggle or when the last open session closes. Off by default, so existing behaviour is unchanged. (rustconn-core/src/config/, rustconn/src/window/mod.rs, rustconn/src/dialogs/settings/ui_tab.rs)
  • MobaXterm import and export round-trip more session types — the .mxtsessions importer and exporter previously handled only SSH, RDP, VNC and Telnet and silently dropped the rest. Both now cover Serial, MOSH and Web (Browser) sessions, the importer additionally maps Rsh/Rlogin (to Telnet) and FTP (to SFTP), and every session type RustConn has no equivalent for (XDMCP, the file browser, the local shell, AWS S3, WSL) is now recorded as a named skipped-entry warning instead of vanishing. FTP-imported-as-SFTP carries a warning that the transport, port and authentication differ. A Serial session preserves baud rate, data bits, parity, stop bits and flow control and carries the COM//dev/tty* device verbatim for the user to retarget. Round-trip tests confirm a Serial, Web or MOSH connection survives export and re-import. (rustconn-core/src/import/mobaxterm.rs, rustconn-core/src/export/mobaxterm.rs, rustconn-core/src/import/traits.rs, rustconn/src/dialogs/import/mod.rs)

Fixed

  • An imported MobaXterm SFTP session no longer round-trips back out as SSH — the importer mapped MobaXterm session type 7 (SFTP) and type 0 (SSH) through the same path, always producing an SSH connection, so exporting an SFTP connection and re-importing it silently downgraded it. Type 7 now imports as ProtocolConfig::Sftp while type 0 stays Ssh. (rustconn-core/src/import/mobaxterm.rs)

Documentation

  • New feature coverage for 0.24.2 — the user guide, README and CLI reference document the quicssh ProxyCommand preset, the RDP clipboard direction selector (replacing the old /clipboard:direction-to: custom-argument workaround) and the opt-in auto-hide-sidebar-on-connect setting. (docs/USER_GUIDE.md, README.md, docs/CLI_REFERENCE.md)
  • All 17 translation catalogues completed for the release — the new quicssh, RDP clipboard direction, sidebar and MobaXterm strings were translated across every catalogue, and the Ukrainian catalogue was reviewed for DSTU terminology and the «з'єднання» connection noun. (po/*.po)

Dependencies

  • Updated (semver-compatible, transitive): ctutils 0.4.6→0.4.7, libbz2-rs-sys 0.2.5→0.2.6, utf8_iter 1.0.4→1.1.0, zcheapstr 1.1.0→1.2.0, utf_types added 1.0.0. A cargo update refresh for the release; cargo deny check advisories is clean. cargo-sources.json regenerated for the Flatpak/Flathub manifests.

Verifying your download

Every binary on this release (deb, rpm, AppImage, Flatpak) is covered two ways.

Plain checksums — download SHA256SUMS alongside the asset, then:

sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS

Signed build provenance (SLSA, via Sigstore) — proves the file was built by this
workflow from this commit:

gh attestation verify RustConn-0.24.2-x86_64.AppImage --repo totoshko88/RustConn

(The snap is signed by the Snap Store; the macOS build is delivered via the Homebrew tap.)
