Contribution - Step by Step

Preparation

Fork and Clone

1. Fork the Repo void-packages
2. Clone the Repo

• Use --depth 1 to save time and disk space
• Clone the master only

3. Set Upstream and Checkout

git remote add upstream https://github.com/void-linux/void-packages.git
git fetch upstream master --depth 1
git checkout -b <paket>-update

4. Check for Updates

./xbps-src update-check <pkgname>  

5. Modify Template
6. Generate Checksum
7. Build and Test

./xbps-src pkg <pkgname>
./xbps-src -Q pkg <pkgname>
./xbps-src -a armv6l pkg <pkgname>

8. Install local pkg and Test on System

• xi -S <pkgname>
• xbps-query -p pkgver zsh-completions
• Functional Tests

9. Lint

xlint <pkgname>

10. Check Changes in PKG Repository Example:

git clone https://github.com/zsh-users/zsh-completions.git /tmp/zsh-completions
cd /tmp/zsh-completions
git diff --stat 0.35.0 0.36.0 -- src/
git log --oneline 0.35.0..0.36.0

11. Commit

• xbump <pkgname>

12. Push

• git push -u origin <pkgname>-update

13. Create PR on GitHub

• Don't forget to comment
• PR name example <pkgname>: update to <version>
