Recording

My trip wasn't recorded. Why? Check whether location is set to "Always" and "Precise", whether a suitable tracking profile is selected and whether the app was closed in the app switcher. See Energy and Battery.

The route looks like a straight line. Allow "Motion & Fitness", choose the profile "Background with trip recording" and start a fresh test trip. On straight stretches at constant speed (e.g. motorways) there used to be gaps; this was fixed in version 4.8 (build 8).

Can I export trips? Yes, as JSON or GPX. You can export single trips in the detail view, all together under Settings → Data & Backup → Back up data / Import. The logbook exports CSV and PDF.

Is the logbook accepted by the tax office? No. It is a private overview, for example for the commuter allowance. There is no edit lock and no mandatory odometer reading.

Navigation

Do I need internet to navigate? With installed Offline Maps the app can calculate routes on the device. Without map data it uses Apple Maps and therefore a connection.

Why is there no speed limit or lane guidance? Both need the installed offline map data. Without it the display stays off, without an error message.

Why are there no announcements? Check voice output in the settings and test the voice. With CarPlay or Bluetooth check the active audio output. If only advance notices, bend or hazard announcements are missing, "Limit announcements to the essentials" is probably switched on (see Navigation).

Why doesn't the app announce a compass direction? Instead, the first step names the place on the next signpost, for example "towards Bremen".

Warnings

I don't get any warnings. Check the main switch, the categories, the radius, the notifications and the data sources. Warnings are only delivered in the vehicle. See Warnings.

What does the notice about speed camera warnings mean? Only use them where it is legally permitted. You are responsible for this yourself.

Battery and display

The app uses a lot of battery. What helps? Choose "Background significant places only" or "Foreground only", switch off warning sources you don't need and charge the iPhone in the car. See Energy and Battery.

The Live Activity or Dynamic Island is stuck. Use Settings → Display & Map → Live Activity & Dynamic Island → Widget repair. Without a running trip or navigation no Live Activity is shown; that's not a bug.

CarPlay and OBD

How do I use CarPlay? Enable CarPlay under Settings → Vehicle & Interfaces. See CarPlay.

Which OBD adapter do I need? A Bluetooth LE adapter of the ELM327 type. See OBD. The feature is in beta.

Data

Where is my data stored? Locally on the device. See Privacy.

Can I use the app in English? Yes, under Settings → App → Language. This wiki is available in German and English.

How do I report a bug? Via Settings → App → Send feedback or by email to apps@uheine.com. Steps to reproduce and, if possible, the debug log from maintenance are helpful.
