v0.13.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 01 Nov 17:32

Fix (Bedrock):

  • Animals hurt what they attack again. Charging rhinos, gaurs, bison and musk oxen now hurt the player, predators hurt and kill their prey, and animals that are attacked fight back. The day/night switch fired on every tick and kept resetting the animals, so their attacks never landed.

Tests:

  • The Bedrock server test checks that a wild dog, lion, rhino and gaur hurt what they attack; the Java game tests check the gaur.

Install

  • Windows, Android, iOS: download SafariAnimals-0.13.1.mcaddon and open it. Minecraft imports both packs.
  • Then edit or create a world and turn on Safari Animals under Behavior Packs. The resource pack is turned on automatically.
  • The .mcpack files are the same packs separately, e.g. for servers.
  • Java Edition (Fabric): put safari-animals-fabric-0.13.1+26.3.jar in your mods folder together with Fabric API and GeckoLib (Minecraft 26.3).

Gaur (Bedrock and Java):

  • Gaur: the biggest wild cattle, from the jungles of India. A dark bull with a high ridge over the shoulders, white stockings, a grey boss between the horns and thick horns that curve up and in. It is the tallest of the cattle, a little taller than a rhino at the shoulder.
  • Short-tempered: come within six blocks and it charges, and the herd joins in. Herds of 2–5 live in jungles.
  • Works with Realistic Hunting: the gaur is game too.

Install

  • Windows, Android, iOS: download SafariAnimals-0.13.0.mcaddon and open it. Minecraft imports both packs.
  • Then edit or create a world and turn on Safari Animals under Behavior Packs. The resource pack is turned on automatically.

  • The aurochs has a bigger shoulder hump and shorter legs, so it stands a little lower.

Install

  • Windows, Android, iOS: download SafariAnimals-0.12.1.mcaddon and open it. Minecraft imports both packs.
  • Then edit or create a world and turn on Safari Animals under Behavior Packs. The resource pack is turned on automatically.

American bison and aurochs (Bedrock and Java):

  • American bison: a woolly hump and cape over the forequarters, a low bearded head and short black horns. Herds roam the plains (and a few the tundra). Unpredictable: walk too close and it charges, and the herd follows.
  • Aurochs: the wild ancestor of cattle, a long-legged black bull with a pale stripe down its back and huge forward-sweeping horns. It lives in forests and on the plains, charges anyone within eight blocks, and the herd joins in. Drops beef.
  • Both are as big as a rhino at the shoulder, bigger than yaks and musk oxen, and are listed under Giants on the website.
  • Works with Realistic Hunting: the new animals are game too.

Install

  • Windows, Android, iOS: download SafariAnimals-0.12.0.mcaddon and open it. Minecraft imports both packs.
  • Then edit or create a world and turn on Safari Animals under Behavior Packs. The resource pack is turned on automatically.

Snow leopard and musk ox (Bedrock and Java):

  • Snow leopard: a smoky-grey cat with dark rosettes and a very long, thick tail. It lives on the mountains and snowy peaks and hunts bighorn sheep, mountain goats, ibex and chamois.
  • Musk ox: a shaggy tundra ox as big as a yak, with a coat that hangs to the ground and horns that hook down past its cheeks. It is ill-tempered: come close and it charges, and the whole herd joins in.

Mountain animals (Bedrock and Java):

  • Bighorn sheep: brown with a white rump and massive curled horns. Rams rear up on their hind legs and crash their horns together, and butt back if you hit them. Lives in mountains and badlands.
  • Mountain goat: shaggy and white with a beard and short black horns. Lives on the snowy peaks and stands its ground with its horns.
  • Alpine ibex: long ridged horns that sweep back over its shoulders. It walks straight up cliffs (and walls).
  • Chamois: a small goat-antelope with a black-and-white face and hooked horns. It whistles a warning and the herd bolts when a person comes near.
  • Yak: a huge, long-haired mountain ox. Tame it with wheat, saddle it and ride it, and it carries a pair of packs.
  • None of the mountain animals take fall damage. Grizzly bears hunt the wild sheep and goats.
  • New habitats: mountains (meadows, stony peaks, windswept hills) and snowy peaks (snowy slopes, groves, jagged and frozen peaks). Website: a Mountains filter.

Bears and a jaguar (Bedrock and Java):

  • Spectacled bear: black with cream "glasses", a shy fruit-eating climber of the jungle.
  • Sun bear: the smallest bear, with a golden patch on its chest. Climbs, likes honey and is up at night.
  • Sloth bear: shaggy, with a white V on its chest and a long pale snout. Lives on the savanna, is up at night and attacks if you walk right up to it.
  • All bears rear up and roar as a warning when you come close.
  • Jaguar: a stocky jungle and swamp cat with dark-centred rosettes. About one in six is black. Its bite goes straight through the shell of a hiding turtle or tortoise, and it hunts capybaras, caimans, turtles and monkeys.
  • Spectacled caiman: a small crocodilian of jungle rivers and swamps, with a bony ridge between its eyes. It eats fish and frogs and leaves people alone unless they bother it. Jaguars hunt it.
