Tracks upstream uxarray 2026.9.1.

Changed

  • Floors uxarray[geo,viz]>=2026.9.1. Upstream moved cartopy, healpix, hvplot and geopandas out of uxarray's required dependencies and into extras (UXARRAY/uxarray#1548). This server imports cartopy directly in four modules, opens healpix:<zoom> grids in most tools, and renders through hvplot, all of which arrived transitively before; installing the new upstream without the extras fails 95 tests. prepare_release.py reads the extras out of the shipped pin so an automated release cannot drop them.
  • The floor also picks up the dask-native SCRIP corner dedup (UXARRAY/uxarray#1775), which is what lets a SCRIP grid larger than memory open with chunks= at all.

Fixed

  • plot_dataset(plot_type="mesh", title=...) refuses instead of dropping the title. plot_mesh renders through holoviews and has no title argument, so the PNG came back correct and unlabelled with nothing saying the title had been ignored. Found on a live UCAR worker.
  • The daily release workflow deselects yac-marked tests, as ci.yml already does. It never builds YAC, so those tests failed on every run, blocking every release from 2026-09-20 and opening six identical "blocked by uxarray" issues that named no real incompatibility. The lon_0 failures in those runs were real and are fixed by the new floor (UXARRAY/uxarray#1771).
  • Two test_upstream_roundtrip cases asserted an upstream defect that UXARRAY/uxarray#1751 has fixed, one as a strict xfail; they assert the fix.
