We are still on 15... Nothing is stopping me and my team other than the fact that we were waiting to upgrade to Next.js 17 as we did not want to jump from 16 then turn around and have to jump to 17 a week later but no announcement has been made for 17 that I can find as the new releases has been dropping every October so we are still waiting it must be coming soon November 1st is this Sunday. |

Nextauth v4.x is incompatible with Next.js 16 and v5 is still beta... |

We are a media-based company, and AMP pages and AMP Stories play a significant role in our publishing strategy, as they contribute considerably to our organic traffic. With Next.js having dropped AMP support, upgrading to the latest versions, particularly v16.x, has become challenging for us. Maintaining AMP compatibility is an important requirement for our business, and the lack of native support creates a significant migration concern. Our internal engineering team is currently evaluating the available options. At this stage, there is a growing inclination to consider moving away from Next.js to an alternative framework that continues to support AMP. We would appreciate it if the Next.js team provide guidance on a recommended approach for media publishers who still rely heavily on AMP pages and AMP Stories. This would help organisations like ours continue benefiting from the Next.js ecosystem without compromising our existing publishing and organic traffic strategy. |

Keep in mind that Next.js 15 was originally scheduled to reach end of life on Oct. 21, 2026. Its Maintenance LTS has been extended to give teams more time to upgrade. We'll continue publishing security releases for Next.js 15 through Jan. 31, 2027. See the support policy for details.
