Tether 1.4.0
Unsigned. Sign it with SideStore, AltStore, Feather or your own certificate, see the README.
Using SideStore or AltStore? Add the source in one tap and get every update there.
What's new:
- Adding a device is three steps now, and they tick off by themselves: join the hotspot, give it the config, turn its tunnel on. Pick iPhone or iPad for the QR code, or Computer for the page's address, a button that copies it, and the file to share. The sheet says when the device is connected. (#66)
- Tether asks for Local Network access while it's on screen. Without it iOS blocks Tether's answers and no device can connect, and iOS never asks an app in the background. When it's off, the main screen says so, with a button to turn it on. (#43)
- A notification when iOS stops Tether in the background while it shares, so you know why your devices lost their data. (#59)
- Fixed: since 1.3.0, a device's UDP traffic (DNS lookups, calls, games) could go unanswered when another app on the iPhone used the same port number. (#67)
- Fixed: on carriers with IPv6 only (T-Mobile in the US), Tether gave out a config before a device was on the hotspot, and that config couldn't connect. Now the code shows up once a device joins. (#64)
Tether 1.3.0
Unsigned. Sign it with SideStore, AltStore, Feather or your own certificate, see the README.
Using SideStore or AltStore? Add the source in one tap and get every update there.
What's new:
- Works on carriers that give the iPhone IPv6 only, T-Mobile in the US among them. There the hotspot gives devices no IPv4, so Tether showed Sharing but nothing could connect to 172.20.10.1. Tether now uses the iPhone's IPv6 address on the hotspot, in the QR code, the downloaded config and the setup page's address. A device set up before on such a carrier needs its config again. (#58)
- When the carrier gives the iPhone no IPv4 route, devices still reach IPv4 sites, through the carrier's NAT64.
- Ping through the tunnel now gets an answer, with the iPhone's real round-trip time. Before, every ping went unanswered, even when everything else worked. (#62)
Tether 1.2.0
Unsigned. Sign it with SideStore, AltStore, Feather or your own certificate, see the README.
Using SideStore or AltStore? Add the source in one tap and get every update there.
What's new:
- A new, quieter main screen. A big status card shows at a glance whether the phone is sharing and how many devices are connected, with the download and upload speed inside it.
- The gear at the top opens Settings: the notification switches, the version, the date this build stops opening, and a link to the help and source code. The Notifications row at the bottom of the main screen is gone.
- A site that resets a connection while a device is still uploading on it no longer cuts off the end of its reply.
- The setup page at
http://172.20.10.1always answers a request that's too big with an error, instead of sometimes dropping the connection. - New screenshots in SideStore and AltStore that show this version.
Tether 1.1.0
Unsigned. Sign it with SideStore, AltStore, Feather or your own certificate, see the README.
Using SideStore or AltStore? Add the source in one tap and get every update there.
What's new:
- Set up a laptop from its browser. Join the hotspot, open
http://172.20.10.1and download the config. Works on Windows, Mac and Linux, no camera needed. - Share file and Browser sit side by side under the QR code, and Browser shows the page's address, also before the first device joins.
- Notifications when a device connects or disconnects, by its name, when sharing stops because of a problem, and when this build stops opening soon. Each has a switch under Notifications at the bottom of the main screen. They come only while Tether is in the background.
- A reset from a website now reaches the device as an error, so a download that was cut off no longer looks complete. The same goes for uploads the other way.
- A device that connects again from the same port right after a site closed the last connection no longer waits up to a minute.
- New app icon.
- The README and a new page at https://viktor-svirsky.github.io/tether/ say what Tether does, for every device.
