ここでの "extra" は、「特別な」という意味よりもどちらかというと "additional" に近い気がします。(「特別なものについて」だと、他にいくつか説明されていないものがあるように読み取れる。)
原文からやや逸れますが「GUIが追加で提供する」とか、もしくは元の訳どおり何も無くても通じるかなと思います。
