Highlights. The field viewer shows VCell functions of a FEniCSx simulation (expressions of its
variables, position and time), not only the variables the solver stores. Functions can be drawn,
probed and plotted as kymographs like any other variable.

- Field viewer: functions of a FEniCSx run are listed and can be drawn, probed and plotted as
kymographs. Their definitions come from the open document's simulation, with the job's constants and
parameter-scan values substituted. Each function is evaluated at the mesh vertices from the stored
variables there, the vertex position (the row's position on a moving mesh) and the row's time, then
interpolated, which is what the 3D view draws. A function's variables are read through the data
server's sampling (#2169) where available. (#2171) - Refused with a message: functions of normals, region sizes, field data, gradients, region variables or
other domains' variables; membrane functions of adjacent volume variables; and statistics of a
function. (#2171)
