Render dense, mixed-species forests with native TreeLayer foliage backed by SplatLayer. Each visible canopy now selects its own screen-error resolution within a shared, device-aware budget, with stable optical transitions, picking, seasonal crops and wind on WebGL2 and WebGPU (#794, #807, #949).
Add VolumetricVideoLayer for GPU-rendered MP4/MOV frame volumes, including native-pixel sampling, bounded history, static-pixel filtering and matching WebGL2/WebGPU compositing (#822, #917, #919, #921).
Bring BasemapLayer substantially closer to MapLibre styling: style glyphs and sprites, CPU label placement and collision, line labels, patterns, hillshade, tiled GeoJSON, style order and globe-aware rendering (#818–#938).
Add edge snapping and reliable interleaved MapLibre/Mapbox interaction to editable layers, including correct lasso picking and primary-gesture handling (#672, #675, #914).
Improve shared tile traversal with globe-horizon culling, cache/view lifecycle fixes and correct selected-tile rendering; expand graph, panel, playground and multi-canvas examples and documentation.
Migration:TreeLayer is now native and canonical in @deck.gl-community/layers; the @deck.gl-community/three import remains a temporary compatibility re-export. Native TreeLayer and SplatLayer foliage ship without built-in deck.gl shadows, detail is ignored, crop radius and canopy sublayer behavior changed, and Cartesian/metre-offset modelMatrix supports translation only.
Migration:DOTGraphLoader has moved to @loaders.gl/graphs; load DOT with DOTLoaderWithParser before constructing a graph-layer graph.
See What's New and the module API references for usage and migration details.
