Release list
Janus 1.0.0
The first release of Janus for Android: your Android phone and your Mac, working as one. Use it with Janus for Mac.
Install
- Download Janus-1.0.0.apk below, on your phone.
- Open it. Android asks once to allow installs from your browser or file manager; allow it, then tap Install.
- Open Janus and scan the code Janus for Mac shows (Welcome → Pair, or Add Device).
Needs Android 7.0 or newer. Android may warn that the app isn't from the Play Store; that's expected for an app installed from a file. On Android 13 and later, if the notification-sync switch is greyed out, open App info → ⋮ → Allow restricted settings, then try again.
What's in it
- Pairing by QR code: scan the code on your Mac. No codes to compare, nothing to type.
- Notifications on your Mac, with replies and actions; calls and messages (read and reply from the Mac).
- Files, photos, links and text both ways, with a share sheet and recent transfers; clipboard sync.
- Notes synced with the Mac, with a home-screen widget.
- Calendar on the Mac: your next meeting in the menu bar, with Join.
- Janus Cloud (optional): when the phone and the Mac aren't on the same network, an end-to-end encrypted relay.
- Mac controls from the phone: lock, mute, screenshot, Find my Mac, run commands, media and volume.
- Android TV: install Janus on the TV too. The phone becomes its remote (D-pad, touchpad, keyboard, voice search, volume, the TV's apps), and the TV receives AirPlay screen mirroring from a Mac, iPhone or iPad.
- A simple first run: connect to your Mac, allow the basics in one go, then turn on the features you want.
Janus is based on KDE Connect and is free software under the GPL-3.0.
