Project Tab Icons 0.4.16 adds a separate Windows beta package and includes the
changes made since the previous public release, 0.3.120.

What's changed

• Merge Windows projects into one window with a shared tab strip, native window controls, individual project closing and window separation.
• Automatically join newly opened project windows on either platform. Open all saved project groups and arrange their tabs with one action.
• Choose Auto, Square or IDEA theme tab corners. Keep tab decoration when the IDE refreshes toolbar project colors.
• Use one Save as new preset action. Validate unfinished group edits through Settings Apply or OK and keep invalid drafts open for correction.
• Resolve quick appearance actions for the correct project, including file-based .ipr projects. Reduce redundant tab repaints and batch icon refreshes.
• Remove the light outline around dark headers in the macOS Settings preview.
• Exclude local AGENTS.md instructions from the repository and public export.

• Settings navigation: separate Appearance, Projects and Project groups with independent scrolling. Keep built-in and user presets above all sections.
• Appearance: start with a compact Preview, with optional Full window. Place Content and Selection on the left and Size & position on the right in Tab layout.
• Precise controls: use consistent pixel inputs and synchronized exact values beside percentage sliders. Choose automatic or fixed text size with Use IDE font size.
• Group inheritance: keep inherited icons and colors readable, show Inherited from and jump to the matching group with Edit group. Register the page at IDE level, removing the misleading project-only marker.
• Project groups: fit tables to their contents, add projects using the Actions plus button with a fresh selection, and use a trash icon for group deletion.
• Git and icons: show [No repo!] without counters outside Git; refresh prepared icon previews while dialogs remain open and reuse bounded contour/text-icon geometry.

Validation

This is the same ZIP installed and visually checked in IDEA. Installed JARs match
the archive byte for byte. The IDE-wide page, layout, presets, inherited values,
numeric controls and project/group icon and color dialogs were inspected; settings
were preserved. All packaging inputs were checked against the committed source
snapshot of that build before public export.

The latest UI checks used Islands Darcula. Smaller windows, other themes and
operation without open projects were not rechecked for 0.3.120. Standalone JVM
tests, linters and Plugin Verifier were not run. See the

for the full scope. The examples gallery retains its documented 0.3.97 provenance;
the three Settings captures show 0.3.120.

Project Tab Icons 0.3.107

Stable grouped-tab dragging, clean tab surfaces above IDE project gradients,
and more control over active and inactive tab brightness.

Changes since 0.3.99

• Group dragging: keep the original group frame, icon, spacing and separators fixed while reordering inside it. Preview a split after leaving its bounds; return before release to restore the group.
• Clean drag rendering: keep the dragged background within the visible tab shape and empty group slots below tab content, so transparent margins no longer cover neighboring titles.
• Project gradients: draw opaque tab and group bodies, including fill insets, above the native gradient. Keep the gradient visible outside their contours.
• Brightness: add Active tab highlight and Inactive tab dimming in Tab layout. Both use a 0–100% range, with defaults of 25% and 75%; hover stays at or below the active highlight.
• Preset editing: restore the original preset selection after undoing all manual appearance edits.
• Icon library: expand the 100+ collection with characters, food, science, games, art, weather and travel, including plain and smiling poop icons. English names, Russian search keywords and source licenses are retained.

return through the IDE's drag handler. Comparable local paint measurements showed
no regression; they do not establish whole-IDE performance.

Standalone JVM tests, linters and Plugin Verifier were not run. The ZIP is unsigned.

• Group appearance: Shared background and Joined tabs, with active/inactive states, internal dividers, shared icons, optional hidden member icons, group spacing and boundary pipes.
• Consistent styling: both group variants inherit regular tab dimensions, theme corners, outline/fill settings and icon size. Duplicate group appearance overrides have been removed.
• Group ordering: groups come first when project windows merge. Arrange Tabs by Group restores saved order; a manually split group's shared decoration stays hidden until it is arranged again.
• Interactive Preview: presets above the preview, three/five-tab samples, selectable active tabs and eight IDE themes. Sample count and preview theme do not change real windows or saved appearances.
• Light theme fix: readable light tab surfaces, text and hover colors, while retaining the dark toolbar and light editor.

Manual drag-and-Arrange interactions, quick actions, style import/export and preset
management were not all repeated in the final 0.3.85 pass. No standalone JVM tests,
linters or Plugin Verifier were run. The plugin is unsigned and uses internal IDE

• Project groups: create and edit groups directly in a single table, with matching Projects / Project groups tabs. Membership has a separate Group column; paths remain below project names.
• Shared appearance: each group owns its icon, icon color, outline color and tab color. Existing, newly assigned and reopened members inherit them. Ungroup restores personal styling. Group styling replaces bulk appearance controls.
• Merge-time ordering: enable Group tabs, move groups with up/down arrows and set optional fixed member positions. Order applies when windows merge; later manual moves remain available. Restore Group Tab Order reapplies the saved arrangement from the tab context menu.
• Inline member editor: muted project paths, a list that grows with Settings and a minimum height for short windows.
• Quick actions: Tools / Find Action access to current-project styling and preset switching, with configurable shortcuts.
• Portable styles: import/export selected presets, SVG categories and editable text icons as JSON, with name-conflict choices. Group paths and memberships stay local.
• User presets: a separate neutral radio-button row and a manager for updating, duplicating and reordering saved presets.
• Fresh README screenshots: installed 0.3.62 Settings crops from 20 October 2026, using built-in demo fixtures and excluding real project names and paths. The approved 100+ icon-library illustration is unchanged.

Existing groups keep Group tabs off until enabled. Group changes save through

Manual dragging, Restore Group Tab Order and the final short-window minimum-height
fix were inspected statically; their final UI checks could not be completed reliably
through UI automation. Quick actions, style bundles and preset-manager operations
were not all re-exercised in the final pass. No standalone JVM tests, linters or

• Import icon sets: use Icon library → Import folder… to add a folder and its SVG subfolders as a shared, searchable category. Preserve original colors and keep copies independent of the source folder. Invalid files are reported and skipped; identical SVGs within a set are merged.
• Custom text icons: create labels such as DB, QA, API or αβ, with 1–6 characters, four styles, three font families and custom colors. Text saves as transparent SVG paths and remains editable after reopening. The project's Icon color action also recolors text without changing its lettering.
• User presets: save up to 10 named Icon, Color and Tab layout presets in the existing radio-button list. A star and accent color identify them; their context menu offers Rename and Delete. Editing a preset's values keeps the named original.
• Refined pending-change dots: smaller markers follow visible captions consistently, including radio buttons, checkboxes and shortened project-row controls, with reserved spacing and disabled-state colors.

Apply saves imported sets, icon assignments and preset edits; Cancel discards the
draft. Existing settings and artwork are preserved. The colorful 100+ icon library
slide stays unchanged.
